Zenoh g-45 in a a Midwest Extra. Modified original muffler.
Currently I am using a MA 18X10 turning 6600rpm.
What is the bes prop for this combination?
I fly out of a 8355 feet elevation field.

Also what Rpm are you getting ?

Try a Zinger 20*08 you should get around 8000rpm

Cac, my G45 turns the 18x10 Pro Zinger at 9,000 even, but only turns the regular Zinger 20x8 at about 7,200, my Mustang 50/Fuji 50 turns both at about 100 rpm faster and my MDS 2.18 edges them both out with the Pro by about 200 rpm with only about 45 minutes run time on it. I'm looking for 9,500 to 9,600 from the MDS after another hour or so.

The pro will give you more pull because it puts less load on the engine. This will give you more RPM and more thrust.

How about Menz, APC or theMejzlik has anyone tried them out?
How about going 20X8 or 20X10?

I have tried a 19x12 on that engine. It had strong vertical on a MW Extra but not unlimited. I found that at higher RPM's it was very noisy. Maybe a 21x8 NX would be good.

My MW Extra with a G45 on a standard Zinger 20x8 with a Bennett's twin stack muffler on 32:1 gasoline turns at 7,800 at an elevation of 2,700 ft. What is the flying weight of your plane less fuel.

19 pounds with fully sheeted wings and stab.
Is anyone getting unlimited vertical with the Extra/G45 combination?

Hi,
My G45 has CH ignition on it and a Bisson muffler. I am getting 7100 rpm on a 22x10 Menz ultra and the same on a 22x10 Bolly. Both performed very well, however the Bolly was noisier.
I get nearly unlimited performance on a 19 lb Byron Christen Eagle.
A 22x8 Menz S turned 7200 and did not fly as well as the 22x10 props.
I picked up 3-400 rpm when I went to Amsoil series 2000 at 50-1 mix.
I'm at 2700 ft ASL.
Mike Billington's engine review in MAN October 1996 indicates max power (torque) is in the 6600 to 6800 range.
I like to prop my engines for static rpm at or slightly above the max torque range.
Torque(power) is the tangible output of an engine at any given time.
Horsepower is solely the mathematical summation of that torque release against time!
John

Tony Clark is the oficial importer of Zenoah engines in Germany.
You can read his recomendations on engine/prop combination on his web page. He also has some very interesting accesories.

http://www.toni-clark.com/index_en.htm

It is similar to what Johnny has.

My MW Extra/G45 combo weighs 17.75 lbs and has just about unlimited vertical. I purchased a Menz 20x10 which many say is the best prop for this engine but the blade is so wide at the hub I have not gotten around to enlarging the cutouts in the aluminium spinner yet. Maybe one of these days.
