Looks like 4 more weeks on the ship date.

Ok, so that would be 9/20/07....

So just for grins, lets see if the new date is any better than the first date.

Has anyone heard anything new or is the 9/17 date still good?

I think those who paid the $299 "pre-purchase" price already are the only ones who have a right to complain.

I am sure Keith won't send out this engine until it is "perfect!", and meets his high expectations.

I would prefer to wait a few months up front rather than send the engine back repeatedly for upgrades".

All the parts for the engines are in house at the moment. No need for trials or testing, just assembly. Time (having enough of it) is the issue.

Keith does have a good guy there, but that only makes two of them and Steve I do not believe is full time.

I know of one shop with one person that has the ability to rebuild about 100 engines a month. That shop does not make new engines, nor does it assemble multi piece crankshafts, which take quite a bit of time to do correctly. If it was my business and my shop I would for darn sure want to clear my tables of old issues before I started the distribution of a new product regardless of how many new engines I had made up and ready to ship.

The moment the first engine is delivered a manufacturer can anticipate calls about problems from the buyers. That's especially true with the less expensive engines because those will be the ones bought by people without the necessary means to aquire the upper level engines. That often also equates with people that have limited to zero knowledge of what to do with their new engine and burn the things up "breaking them in" on the bench. You see it here in this forum all the time.

If someone is having buyers remorse over a pre release deposit then ask for your money back. Ye of little faith....as the story goes. If you're not having a problem with a slight delay, as I would not have a problem, especially with this manufacturer, then simply wait a bit longer

Just a polite little hint, when making claims of any sort, be sure to back it up with facts and not conjecture. If you are uncertain about a sittuation, please investigate before making posts, it saves loads of bickering and arguing.

Ok everyone, I just spent the last several minutes cleaning house in this thread. My apologies to those people that I had to edit certain items out of certain posts that referenced removed posts.

Please, take it easy on each other.

You know, it wasn't long ago that Keith was on here about everyday for at least a month straight in regards to this engine and also the BME 115....

I am really having a hard time understanding why he can't take 5 minutes and leave us a post on the progress...

IMO he does owe us that much

Listen to RTK. I don't think most are aware that he has a pretty direct connection with BME and generally relates what he obtains in very short order.

Let's ponder this a moment.

You've released a very nice new twin that should have worked great. For some it did and for some it did not. Now you have to come up with a carb change for it. Then a bunch of users can't get the hang of adjusting the new carb, so you develop an internal mod for the new carb. A bunch of customers are scared to do the mod so now you start designing, manufacturing, and testing a new carb design to make everyone happy. In the course of all this you have your regular customer returns from crashes and such. Before your customers encountered diffilculty with the twins original carb you announce that you are soon to come out with a new 50cc engine that's cheap, so everyone wants one, not knowing the service storm that's laying on the horizon. Your only employee takes an extended vacation, leaving you as the only one to perform research and development on a new carb, fix broken and damaged engines, maintain communications with the shops that are making parts for the new engines, handle billings from sales, take care of payables from purchases, schedule delivery timelines, and begin assembly of crankshafts of a new engine. Oh, yea, the wife and kids would like a few minutes of each day as well. Now figure that each customer that calls on the phone will take a minimum of 30 minutes of your time in general conversation before they get to the point and often a lot longer than that. Now figure that you have about 20 to 50 e-mails a day that will require about 5 minutes each to read and answer, and if complicated, extends that time to 15 minutes per.

If you haven't tried owning and running your own business while being the one doing the lion's share of the work you can never understand. Contrary to popular belief, all those small business owners are not sitting back in their chairs, collecting the money, while living on easy street. It's hard, grueling, and it's time consuming. The man's got the parts, he will get the engines out, but time is the one thing he doesn't have. Give it to him. If you are willing to pay a lot more for an engine I'm sure he'd be more than pleased to hire 6 or 8 employees to take up the slack.

Criminey, all the crying because people can't have it now. I used to smack my children for tantrums caused by that attitude.

The protection just never ends.

Once in 2 months I'm sure Mr. Baker or someone in his business could have turned on the computer

I didn't ask to have it NOW...Just a simple post saying there's been a de;ay by Mr. Baker not RTK.

wingburner--I try not to speak for Keith, but sometimes relay what we have talked about. The last conversation did not hit on the 52 delivery date, so I will not speculate. All I know is he said he has been very busy.
I do understand how you feel about it coming from Keith and not me.

Ya never know, he just might do exactly that, but if and when he does there's always a firestorm from somebody. That is something else that's repeated itself and one of the reasons he normally doen't post in here. It was the subject of one of many business converstaions I had with the man.

As for protection, not from me, and not hardly. I'm just tellin' it like it is. I don't have the time and don't get paid by anybody for that kind of stuff.

Thanks RTK, I'm not trying to run him or his business in the ground...I've owned the 110 and currently have the 115...

Just he was so prevelant awhile back helping us with the 115 and then with the possible release of the 52 and maybe a 150, that it makes me wonder why he wouldn't post again or possibly a little more often than he does.

I realise running a business is hard, I have had my own.

Pat, you may be right about the firestorm, but I do believe he has a responsibility in letting potential customers know what's going on after he has brought up the release of engine himself.

I do appreciate the knowledge you two gentlemen bring to these forums

The only responsibility Keith has regarding this engine is to those who have ALREADY paid their money. If you pre-paid back in June, you have a right to know the actual delivery date. Call Keith and if you get through he will give you an update.

If you didn't pay, then just wait it out.
