Mike,

No, need to remove the tristock. Cuting the blind nut is what we recommend and is shown in the manual. Very simple and problem free. I would not remove the tristock but it's your plane. You can make the call. We don't carry any tristocks in our warehouse but you can pick some up from LHS.

Thank you,
Reza

Reza,
I had to cut the tri-stock on mine. In the picture in the manual there is no tri-stock on the bottom of the box but there is on the GenIII. I cut the blind nuts and cut just enough out of the tri stock at each hole so the blind nuts would fit.

Lee, the factory should have left that tristock out. What tool did you use to make a localized cut through the tristock? I'm looking at using a dremel drum sander with a 90deg or cord attachment to get into the box.

I see what's going on now. How about just cut it by sharp xcato knife. They are not that hard, and sharp Xacto knife should do the job. They should've put the tristock from the bottm rather than inside the box. Sorry for the extra step guys but I'm sure you can handle it

I used an xacto knife, it was vey easy to do. I'm sure the dremel would do the job but it only took a few seconds to cut with the knife.

Hey guys- I'm thinking about one of these planes and just wanted to know a couple of things, how is the fiberglass work on the cowl and wheel pants? On some of the arfs that I have seen it is paper thin and will not last a season. If I spend a grand or more on a plane I want it to last for a while. Thanks and happy landings!

These planes are top of the line as far as quality goes, the cowl and wheel pants are great. You should easily make a season as long as you install everything correctly.

Hi all,
My gen III came with a gen II manual and I was just wondering if the paper template at the back of the manual is ok for the gen III? The measurement's in the manual directions are different than the template. I want to get it right because I'm using canister's and I want to make sure everything line's up. Also are blind nut's sufficent for a motor this size? (DA 100) I thought washer's and lock nut's with nylon insert's would be stronger.

Thank's Marc 540

Hey Marc,
I used the template in the manual and everything fit fine. Make sure you line it up with the top edge of the motor box, you can pop the top cover in when you mark it to be sure. This is the best flying out of the box plane I've owned, the only mix I have is 4% rudder to up elevator. The blind nuts will be fine, you have to cut the tri-stock a little to install them. If you want a little extra security you could install nylon lock nuts with the blind nuts. I took the option of cutting the stringers out in front of the gear so the stingers came out there, otherwise you have to cut the headers down a little. That is explained in the instructions. Your going to love the plane, good luck with it.

I thought I could repair the left wing of my 102" gen 2, but alas it is cracked throughout..and spar broke. Instead of placing a want ad..(NO ONE EVER READ THEM!), I'm putting a request out for a fairly decent or like new LEFT WING for a 102". thanks..bobzilla

Left wing found..thanks to QQ for great price and Molly for quick ship.

I was missing the rods for my rudder also. I thought I was loosing my mind and lost them but we didnt. I had some rods left over from when I built the 260. They were little too long so we just flip one of the rudder servos around and it work perfect.

MAKE SURE YOU TIE A KNOT IN THE RUDDER CABLES THEN PULL IT THROUGH. In the manuel they give you that say to put a bend in itand pull through. It will come out. Mine did first flight luckily I got it back on the ground safely. Plane went together easily.

Guys,

Here are more pictures of the new Gen III, Somenized Yak-54. For those of you who have been waiting to buy one of these planes, I can tell you that it can't better than GenIII. I snapped some shots of the fuse and canister READY tunnel. I don't think it can get any better than this

Regards,
Reza
