well, i did'nt blow my 3.3, but i did sell it after i put in an axial .32 bigblock i already had. a 3.3 would work ok for you, unless you want to go nuts with power. it's [3.3] fast as it is.

finally, someone understands why i don't buy used anymore...anyway, i'm not a fan of the 3.3, it's hard to tune and it's not as fast as it's made out to be....i'd spend a little more and pick up a .28. I'm going with the Picco .28 for my Muggy and for my T-Maxx....but that's just me. Do a search in the engine forums, someone there will help ya out

I went with the 3.3... It's a healthy upgrade from the 2.5r I just did the upgrade about 2 weeks ago. when my 2.5r lost all compression. I sent mine back to traxxas though Still haven't heard any word back from them yet... It's been 2 weeks since they received it. I was going to go with the O.S. .18tz Turbo but my LHS had to order it and I'm not the patient type plus I needed an engine for my Revo that weekend to go bashing with, and my LHS only had the 3.3 in stock. .that would fit the revo I'm pleased so far. no complaints... Just stick with the pull starter that comes on it. It works wonders and sheds a ton of weight. My new 3.3 engine starts up within 3 pulls. every time... and I've been running it hard as hell. around 10 hours on it since I bought it. I never ran my 2.5r that much. But the 3.3 is a fun power plant plus you can use the Lifetime engine replacement at your LHS which will let you upgrade to the new 3.3 for around $130. vs. shelling out the $189 like i did without the replacement. (Since traxxas has my 2.5r i couldn't use it for the trade in). Just keep an eye on your spur gear for the first couple hours of run time. As mine literally melted after break-in. I couldn't tell if it was because of the new power or from doing back flips on the base of a tree. but the teeth were flattened after about the 3rd tank after break-in. I put on a 40t spur and haven't had any problems since.. I also tightened the slipper down tight. and I already did the FOC conversion. I figured I'd give the TRX one more chance before buying the O.S. .18TZ Turbo. If this one fails on me Traxxas TRX engines are worth nothing more than paper weights to me. BTW my 2.5R lost compression because I was running it a little to lean on 30%. I'm running this 3.3 Rich enough that I have a big plume of smoke for the entire throttle, and I've still got tons of power to wheelie all over creation with. although I'm also running rich because it's 90 degrees here everyday.

Personally, I'm a fan of the TM. Replaced the 2.5 in my Revo with it and could not be happier. I think I've tweaked the tuning 3 times in about 6 months.

As far as buying used...I love it. You just have to shop for good deals. I never buy used unless the price is low enough to include replacing the engine and still be in good shape price wise. It also helps if you can see/hear/run the vehicle. My two best used buys were a T-Maxx Pro.15 with 2 tanks through it for $100. The guy was frustrated because he could not figure out why when you tried to turn left the truck went right so he sold it at a yard sale... And the other is an RC18b with the 8kv mamba brushless system, 3 c lipo, full aluminum upgrade, foam tires and every single stock part including all the manuals for $200.

Lucky... My friend picked up 2 brand new jato 3.3's... His friend bought one had a problem with it so Trxxas sent him another complete brand new truck for free he upgraded everything on the first one to aluminium and titanium then his friend decided that he didn't like the fact that he couldn't really drive it off road so sold both trucks and 2 big boxes of parts tires and misc items to my friend all for $200. talk about a deal. I'm still trying to get my hands on the second one.

1_ Really evaluate whether you want the TRX 3.3 engine or not (if you need help this forum has lots of feedback on it)
2_Take out conrod and piston assembly and make a GRRRRRRRREAT key chain out of it
And then...
Make up your mind on which engine you want, many many engines around for the revo including the RBTM523, the RBTM323, the Picco's and Nova engines and lest we forget, the OS engines... I currently have an OS 18TM with the Revo Manifold, just broken in via heat cycling, not clocked yet but i get the "Whoosh and whine" when it passes by on first and on second its even more dangerous.... which is never an issue heheheh... it holds a tune perfect and will pull wheelies at demand.. personally I have heard of too many issues with the RB TM series and nothing but negativity about their warranties (for example, there is no written warranty, it all goes through hobby store and distributor) which is just about enough to steer me clear of the RB motors.......

PS I got my Revo used too...
