Here it is on the eve of the maiden. No it is not a commercial for Smart-Fly. I would like to thank Maudib, T-Mann, Barry Cazier, Randy Racer, Reza, as well as the many others whose posts I have quietly lurked uopn. Although this is not an 86", I implemented a lot of the suggestestion in regards to set-ups, hardware, hinging techniques and other things.

The set-up is as folows:

DX-7 & AR7000
Smart Fly Power Expander
Smart-Fly Super Reg w/ Pin & Flag
Smart-Fly Ignition Reg
Smart-Fly Optical Ignition Cut-Off
Fromeco Badger Switch w/ Pin & Flag (for ignition)
3 - 7.2v LiPoly batteries (HiModel 20C)
DA100

I can not take ANY credit for the build. It was done by Rich Huffman, a local flyer here in Las Vegas.

I will post some more photos tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Good luck...

Double check your aileron hook ups. I had a friend, last night, who got them reveresed and didn't notice. Two people were even looking at it. He lost his plane in the first 30seconds of flight. Beyond repair.

Thanks
Barry

Well, a total of six flights on her. I am very happy with it so far. I have been told by some much better pilots than myself that the nose seems to be "searching" when doing slow rolls. They suspect the problem may be that it is tail heavy. I'm not good enough to know yet. Anyone had this "wandering nose" problem?

Overall, great plane and I am lookin forward to growing in to it. The Quique brand makes a great addition to our store!

PS. I'm the short one next to the plane.

funny, you type a lot taller than that.

you may need thrust adjustment and CG adjustments to get it on rails. take your time and adjust a little at a time till you get it like you want it.

How/where do I adjust the thrust? Is this something others have had to do?

You adjust the thrust by "shiming" with washers on the side, top, bottom of the engine standoffs to make the nose of the engine go in one direction or the other. I've done this on some plane that require it. My Yak 86" doesn't require it. It may if I had a different engine (DA50).

My guess is if you are in the recommended engine range of your QQ that you'll be fine. Just do your 3/4 throttle runs in vertical, 45*, and inverted to see if it pulls in any direction. If it pulls to the left on your uplines than you need more RH thust, if it pulls to the wheels you need more up thrust. I've found this changes with throttle. If you pull to the right at 1/2 throttle, straight at 3/4 throttle and to the left at full throttle I think that is about perfect.

My Yak feels great at all attitudes and throttle. I have had to mix slightly in KE but it's just fine the way it is.

Thanks
Barry

Man, those pictures with your daughter are just awesome. Very nice and clean build as well.
Where is your CG set at right now?

I hope you enjoy the plane for a long time,
Reza
