I have never tested it, but it struck my mind as our field is rather dirty between spots of grass and this engine is $$$

Only way to find out is to try it. As long as it stays in place, I say give it a shot.

Airflow wise, it may restrict a bit, but it is difficult to really calculate how much. Likely the impact will be minimal.

Let me know how it works out
