NSRCA District 4/District 5 Shoot Out
District 4/D5 Shoot Out
The AMA Flying Site, in Muncie, IN, is the home of the annual NSRCA District 4/District 5 Shoot Out which will be held on June 9 and 10th. The event provides the opportunity to prepare for the AMA Pattern NATS as well as a little cross District rivalry between D4 and D5. Each District has an informal Team Captain to organize and motivate their respective pilots for the ultimate prize...the Traveling Cup.
The Traveling Cup/Trophy is given to the District who has the highest score as determined by number of pilots, by class and final placement. The 2006 event was rained out, yet District 5 emerged as the victor based on the "tie breaker", most pilots entered.
District 5 takes this event very, very seriously with the inspiration of Mickey "The Gun" Lasardo (see photo below), Robert "You're Going to the Shoot-Out, RIGHT!) Satalino and Mike Mueller. The rules, regarding which District a pilot is from or representing are somewhat unclear and fuzzy...but...
Based on the fact that Troy Newman was living in Wisconsin the last (4) days, he has earned a "temporary residence" status, has completed the appropriate paperwork, the paperwork has been signed by Mr. Lasardo and Mr. Satalino and WILL FLY FOR DISTRICT 5 FOR THE SHOOT OUT!!!!
District 5 is pleased to take advantage of this obscure rule and looks forward to retaining the Traveling Cup/Trophy!
See you on Friday....

Obscure rules??? Seems to me that D4 could counter us with the addition of a MR QQ if they had any type of PR like us. We have Rusty to get everyone going and keep us in good shape.
Troy is property of the D5 team fair and square. Not that we really need him. The flying in Milwaukee this weekend was off the charts. In FAI Bill Ahrens and Dave Snow gave Troy all he could handle and he is a lot to handle! Troy is staking a claim to make the US team. From what I've seen he's very serious and has the skill and equipment to do it.
The Trophy is called the Ryder. It's on my mantle right now. Real nice looking trophy that was awarded to D5 last year because of our intimadating presence and stunning good looks.
Let's hope we have great weather so we can add the best flyers to the reason for keeping the trophy. Let the war begin my friends!!!!!! Mike Mueller D5AVP

Wow,
Now I really wish I could make it back. My new v3 and i would love to be playing back there in Masters. I know one Mr. Jesky is going to have something to say about FAI. I wish I could make it back to fly this weekend. That would be a LOT of fun. Even though I'm D6 now, I'm still FROM D4...

We will be bringing proof that Troy Newman lives in Port Washington Wisconsin. Yes my fellow friends he resides in D5 now. Photo ID's and proper documents to be provided by some of Mickey and Bobby Satalino's friends from the old neighborhood over by dar AAAAAA!!!
We checked the rules and it doesn't state how long one must preside in a said District to qualify to compete.
I will be posting a pic of the beautiful Ryder Trophy. She told me the other day that she likes living in Chicago. I told her she has nothing to fear. She was very happy to hear that and agreed with me because she has seen the guys from D4 fly. Life is really good for her now. My wife dusts her off every few days too. She really needed a bath when we got it back from the other guys. See ya soon. M2

RE: NSRCA District 4/District 5 Shoot Out
District 4/District 5 "Smack Down!"
Regarding the obscure rules...pitch hitting and establishing official residency...
Fantastic to feel so much enthusiasm for our little get together! Each District is fortunate to have a collection of pilots with exceptional experience. Quoting an infamous model airplane philosopher (probably sponsored)...
"Good looks, brand new fancy equipment, past victories and lots of practice are worthless, if you don't show up..."
he also said...
"When the going gets tough, the tough are flying for D-5"
according to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary under the definition of "Esprit de Corp" (fancy term for D-5 kicka De Butte de D-4)...
Esprit de Corp- (noun) a collection of precision aerobatic pilots who appreciate the experiences and challenges building and flying radio controlled airplanes. The photo below is also included.
Your friends at JR and Futaba will bring a few appropriate "goodies" to encourage and celebrate newer competitors. Doesn't it look like I had something on my hand by Troy's expression...?

NSRCA District 4/District 5 Shoot Out
Expanding the rules of engagement...Gernot Bruckman to fly for D5!!!
Yippeee, the "Shoot Out Smack Down"... After counseling with the D5 Elders, conversations with the handlers and more conversations with the Elders D5 will be soliciting the services of my new pal, European Ace, Futaba "X" Games pilot (yep he'll be in town...) GGGGEEEEERRRRNNNNNNOOOOOOT BRRRRRRUUUCKMAAAAAANNN! (Say it slowly like a WWF announcer would introduce the ringer...)
He has spent time at the Chicago O'Hare airport, which is clearly in D5, so without even making up rules...this guy is in...
Here is a photo of Gernot and I after I made a littler purchase at the 2007 E-TOC. The model pictured is of his highly modified and enlarged "Spark" which is a 165 gram RTF (1) meter x (1) meter "EuroAsian" masterpiece. I let Troy fly it at dusk, this past Thursday evening...yes, it is very cool!
So...D4, keep practicing!

P.S. If Gernot has not arrived for the pilots meeting...we are supposed to go on without him. (yes, I made up the part that he is coming.)

You don't have to be a D4 or a D5 member to compete.
It's an open contest to all. So if you want a major
league tune up for the Nats and get exposure to the
people who will be judging you than come on out.
Camping is available and cheap!!!!! Weather is looking
good too. Mike
German foamie guys? Not sure about that.
