Yeah realised that.....but we still need to be closer, mind you makes panning even harder

And we both know its going to get a lot colder than that in the coming months!

That's odd, I was flying at Chedworth atop the Cotswolds, not far from you, in normal clothing one layer.

Nice video Andrew, Im amazed how well you captured it without a "first person view". Ive recently got the bug on all this so very interested to see how it develops. I have found that having the video downlink to a pair of goggles really helps to get the shots - although first person view flying is a whole new bit of fun anyway. I recently got a head tracker to help with the pan and tilt so basically where your head goes the camera goes. Good fun ! So far Ive only tried it on fixed wing but Ive just got a quadcopter kit to build with GPS so that should give a new dimension.

Top flying by Geoff as usual !

Cheers Dick,

It looked that cold, three layers........not enough. I've just had a 5 layer hang gliding suit delivered which I need to try out.......must admit I'm a woos when the temp drops.

Thanks Colin. I must confess that there were a lot of fly pasts which were not captured so well. FPV is the next step with this, both in it's own right and to support airborne video and photography. I've been messing about with multirotors for about three years now and have decided that, like most other things, you have to part with lots of dosh to get decent results. The setup I was using is a fairly small (670mm motor to motor) quad with a fairly serious (belt drives, potentiometers etc)  independently stabilised camera gimbal. Flight controller is a Wookong M with GPS etc.

On Sunday it was cold enough that the Lipo's were not delivering much time in the air. The clips in the video were one sortie by Geoff but two by the quad as I had to change battery.

Don't we just love gadgets

Cool ! I've only got the Naza M GPS - you've got the professional setup with the Wookong M ! Looking forward to building the quad - it's only a 450 but good to start with I hope.

I also have a F550 with a Naza GPS. Excellent system. Frankly there is no discernable difference in flight performance on smaller machines. If anything I would say that the GPS hold is a bit better on the Naza but the WKM seems more stable in windy conditions.

If you are heading down the FPV route, if you have not already seen it you should take a look at the TBS (Team Black Sheep) Discovery. This uses the DJi 450 arms and motors but has baseplate with integrated circuitry specifically for FPV wiring. There is an optional 'Core' component which delivers clean power at the right voltage for all the components. I think it is brilliantly design and am saving my pocket money to buy one. The TBS web site is  http://team-blacksheep.com/ and there is an excellent build video which gives you a very clear idea of how it all works.

We should compare notes at Abingdon in a few weeks!

Cheers

Andrew

I'm inclined to agree with you David. He (the infamous Trappy) is not doing us any favours at all with this sort of high visibility stuff. He did the same sort of thing in New York and it caused quite a stink.

Having said all that, Trappy really pushes the technical boundaries of FPV and is a very skilled FPV pilot. Take a look at this video to see how well this guy flies. Also this one to see what your Hawk might look like 'air to air'.

A chilly but very enjoyable day at Wtn today...just the Animal and me there...had the airfield to ourselves so I put another 4 on my L-39 and Animal had 5 with his Hawk (these portable hand warmers are definately the toys to have in the winter ).

Got loads of pics (Animal took the Albatros pics) but there are only so many to see of the same aeroplane without it being boring, so here are just 4...

Cheers,

Dick

Nice pics especially the sunset one, if you had waited until tomorrow you may have had a white background!

Dick, that sunset shot is a beauty, what a pity the un-scale weather station pole can't be moved out of the way.
I looked at the temp and decided not to bother, prompting much accusations of "big wooss" from the fairer half!

LOL! In fairness mate, had the forecast re the temp been accurate, you'd have been justified staying in bed. As it turned out, it was one of only a few almost perfect days at Wtn in the last 12 months! Had it been today, as Alan said, the backdrop would have been white.

Cheers,

Dick

PS, just to rub it in, you missed roast lamb...but the Animal helped out there

Nice to see everybody isn't a fair weather flyer. I spent the day with a white f15 flying in a white mist and trying to stay inside the boundaries of the strip. Not fun but I scratched the itch, Ron.

I went flying Sunday, had no feelings in my hands after a few minutes, good job considering the Tx I was holding... Luckily our local club has a heated hut 5m away from the pits and its running at 24 degrees in this weather... Sitting on the leather sofa and drinking coffee between flights, I was thinking of all the less fortunate

Good day at Wtn yesterday...despite the cold wind chill Big G managed to get sunburned! Highlight of the day was first flight of Harry Curzon's Mick Reeves Lightning. Can't upload pics here but I have put a couple on the JMAs site...

http://jmajets.co.uk/board/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3589&p=8617#p8617

Harry, feel free to chip in here with details mate.

Cheers,

Dick
