So who has one? Anyone got some videos up? This plane may fit in my apartment so I'm thinking about putting one together at the end of summer.

Go to Aero Works home page , there is video of the 1.20 Yak on the 1.20 page. Mine is flying just fine, I am starting to move batteries back, looking for the sweet spot.

What engine are you running and does it give unlimited vertical?

Yeah, I've been looking at this plane pretty hard. I have a Satio 125 and 5 Hitec 5625's in a F90 that would look much nicer in this plane. I think I might have to pull this trigger on this one.

I am running an OS 1.20 with a 17x4w APC prop, on 15% nitro even in our hot humid air here in Florida, she hovers no problem, I use the Yak to practise IMAC.

I went with the 5985's in wing and on elevator, 5955 on the rudder, overkill but do they ever center well and are fast, I had 5945's but switched, the centering was poor.

I hope I don't have centering issues on the 5945's. I got them online for $62/servo, which was advertised as "on sale". I have some 5985's in my cap, but opted for the 5945's cause they were slightly stronger and cost less. Hope I don't regret it.

My mistake, I should have said 5645 not 5945, the 5945's have been discontinued and are probably under a new number.

I've been using the 5625's and they center very well. Not as much torque as the 5645's, but very fast. I haven't noticed any blow back on the Funtana 90 with these, and I think they should be fine on this yak, however, I will probably throw a a higher torque servo on the rudder.

I have a new set of factory matched 5900's if anyone is interested. Leaving the hobby due to health reasons. They were only used to set up an overkill Mayhem and have never left my home. PM me if anyone is interested

What a difference between the 5985's and the 5645's, you do not fight the plane with the slight corrections that are needed with the 5645's, well worth the extra money, especially if you are flying IMAC.

If you have access to a Hitec digital servo programmer, adjust the deadband on the 5645s and they center a whole bunch better. I have the Yak 90-1.20 with 5645 servos on elevator/ailerons and a JR8611A on rudder.

I wonder how a Saito 180-220 would work on this plane. Hmmm.

Does anyone know if you can buy a replacement cowel for this airplane?

I have mine with the 1.80 and it's perfect. Unlimited vertical!

The only place I can think of is Aeroworks themselves.

I just ordered my Yak tonight. I have a NIB Saito 1.25 and a nearly new Saito 1.50 sitting on my shelf. I am still deciding what I will put in it. I also ordered (4) 5645's and 1 of these for the rudder. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPHD6&P=SM

I am very undecided between the aeroworks and the QQ 69" Yak I have a YS 110 waiting to go in either one. Any suggestions to which it would be more suited.

I've had the QQ 73" and currently fly the Aeroworks .90-1.20. If the 69" is anything like the 73" I'd get the Aeroworks.

Hi, Zippi, I guess by the sounds of it you were not empressed with the QQ yak. Any particular reason? (build quality, flying characteristics)?
Ian

Ian Shaw,

I didn't care for the geometry of the linkage setup with the circuit board control horns. Nothing fit very well, Seem to have to much slop. The rear stab was another area I didn't care for. Seemed to be very weak. A plane of this size needs have the wing and rear stab on a tube that is bolted to the fuse, not CA hinges. It was hard to pick this plane up without breaking something on the bottom side, just too fragile for me. This is just my opinion and others may like this setup but I didn't.
