I maidened mine today. I flew it a little nose heavy compared to the 4 in cg that is recommended. The ground handling is something that needs improvement. The tail was real light and the plane was wanting to nose over. I dont think the bumpy grass field helped out any either though. I addded a little weight to the tail which helped some. Once I got it rolling and the tail flying it was fine though. The g 26 with a 16-8 apc prop pulled the plane into the sky quite easily. I think the engine is a good combo for this size plane. It does some great low fly bys. It has plenty of speed. I dont think the 16-8 prop is loading the engine much at all because the engine was screaming at full throttle. I didnt fly at full throttle too long though because of it being the first flight. Once I get the ground handling straightened out Ill try a 15-10 apc I have. Oh the landing. The plane slows down pretty well for a landing. I dont know if the retract doors are going to last on the grass field. When I touched down one of the doors caught in the grass but let loose before it broke the wood. All in all though I really like the look of the plane in the air. It also flies great at speed and is a good match for the g 26 which is kinda hard to find in a warbird. Once I sort out the little things it will be a great flying warbird that looks great too.

Hangar9 has a 1/7 size British WWII pilot. It needs to be trimed down a bit. Used the CG Calculator and it came out at 3.86 inches. Going with a Saito 125. Just waiting for everything to get here. Will replace the 2 3/4 inch wheels with Scale Robart 3 1/4 inch tread wheels.

I went with some larger dubro wheels. I fixed the tip over problem with the ground handling by shimming the trailing edge side of the retract gear. Worked pretty good. Something to look out for. I was flying yesterday and when I landed the whole right gear came out of the retract housing. What it ended up being is there is a retention screw for the pivot pin. luckily I was already on the ground when it came and was able to find the pin. The Plane flies great and the landing arent too bad. The vertical on this plane is pretty nice too. When I pull up the plane doesnt even seem to slow down. I really like this plane.

[font="Times New Roman"]Another problem has come up! the gear blocks in the wings were not the same. I had to shimmy one gear to get it to hang right. Waiting for the engine to arrive and get on with finishing the a/c.

I have been working on mine. I will try to dig out a camera. Robart retracts, Saito 1.50. So far so good.

Is there a reason no one has used the cermark engine that is packaged with it. the price is good but I see everyone has chosen something different I was only interested in this because I'm sick of glow and all it's idiocincracies. I have all Saitos and one gas I can get my gasser off the ground with half the trouble but if the gas engine isn't what I think it is I'd like to know that

I used a g 26 because that is what I had already. I am not sure but to me the spe 26 looks a little wider to me than the zenoah. That is something to look at because the wider the engine the more of the cowl you have to cut.

Spitflier,

I used a Saito 1.50 cause I had one and it seemed like a good choice(mostly because I have one).

The wing is built using conventional methods and as long as you were carful in your cutting, it wouldn't be too big of a job.

I'm still workiung on mine. Decided to add a full cockpit and pilot. I am finishing up the gunsight now. After that I should have it ready soon. I think it is pretty good for an arf. It is stand off scale, but for the price it looks It will be a winner.
