One has a pull-start, the other - the Truggy version - is for startbox only - has a bit more power, and a bit snazzier carb.. Get the Truggy version and startbox if you can...

I went to tear mu muggy down today and the center diff is locking up when trying to turn the rear wheels. There is probably something wrong in there. I've been planning to swap out for aluminum diffs. But I am also interested in the new smart diffs. I seem to recall reading I have to use a "heavy duty diff case" to make it work. I also believe the losi 8ight t smart diff will work but I am not sure. If someone could give me accurate product #'s or any help that would be great. Thanks!

Anyone using aftermarket sealed bearings and have recommendations. The stock inner wheel bearings, the big ones, suck. I have to replace them constantly. I don't drive through water hardly at all, but lots of sand, a little mud (rarely) and tons of dirt. And my inner wheel bearings disintegrate like it's their job. Suggestions?

When I bought my lst2, on the second tank of break in mine came apart like you said. Replaced and another came apart in no time. I just found some in stock at my lhs the right size and had no more come apart.

Demi, I haven't used the smart diffs, so take this with a grain of salt. According to what I've heard from people who used em, they weren't impressed in most situations. I haven't used them myself though. I haven't gotten to check the forum much. Got your center diff fixed yet? The only problem I've had with any Losi diffs are those dang pins breaking. And ever get the brake pads swapped? It's not hard. Much easier than on an MT.

I FINALLY got my 454 broke in the day before yesterday. I did the heat cycling method. I went ahead and did a single steering servo too. I like it better. I haven't gotten to run it very hard yet and I don't have enough time off work to get to play much until Tuesday, maybe some tomo afternoon. I had four 13 yard dump truck loads hauled in this past week and used bout two loads to build on my rc track. Still some shovel work and grass trimmin left but it's FUN from what little I've ran on it. Jumps are huge.

Ah, found a little write up on a steering slop mod. With part number suggestions to boot. Scroll to the bottom of this page:

Well bummer. I tried this modification and still have an ungodly amount of slop on my left side. It's just stoopid how much wiggle there is. Hmm... might have to start trolling fleece-bay for a used 8. Pisser!

Yeah willclark I got the brake pads on with little difficulty. The problem with the center diff locking was that even though my chassis appears to be pretty straight ( I have aluminum angle beefing it up) It was actually bent between the motor mount and center diff & spur gear. Binding up the works and eating up my clutch bell teeth. So i stripped the car down unbolted the angle and bent it back on the edge of my workbench. After re-assembling everything the drive train seems to mesh great. Definitely not a permanent fix but it got me going again. p.s. track looks fun!

That sucks. Wish I could help. Mine has zero slop

Demi, cool. Glad you got her goin again. I may have to check my chassis. A rock somehow managed to get into the slot under the flywheel and lock my engine. After I got it out I didn't notice it pushed the engine over and put too much cb/sg clearance until it nearly rounded off the cb teeth. I fixed the clearance but it spun two cb screws out within a tank. I blue loctited em and let it set over night both times. I have a new spur already and ordered a clutch bell. It's parked till then.

The track is awesome! Haven't got to play on it but about two tank worth. Got a friend to drive so I could photo

Takzilla the aluminum angle i have running down each side of my frame didn't bend, it's 1/2" by 1/2" and acts more like a super stiff spring. I believe I bent my frame previously because when i first got the car i drove it full speed into a large gas grill head on. (throwing the heavy grill several feet) and i drove the muggy away! Yeah i do bash my muggy super hard, the more people watching the faster higher and farther i push it. I've only broken one a-arm and broke the rear bulkhead a couple of times because of repeatedly failed back flips. But it's always been cheap fixes with 2 and 1/2 gallons through it.
willclark those jumps look like they are spaced out great. (and muggy looks good in the air) I still haven't bought the 48 tooth spur gear. but it will be my next upgrade.

Thanks! Gotta love slamming into hard objects! I meant to ask if you ever tried the 48t spur, but I typed that post in a hurry and forgot. My Muggy was a Fleabay special and came with an extra "stock" spur. I just took it out and it's a 48t, not 46! I want to try it but going to wait. No need in putting a brand new spur with a half worn clutch bell and possibly screwing up the wear pattern. My new cb should be in tomo, plus I leave for work in a lil bit. I hope to get it together when I get back in Tuesday mornin. With truggy tires, a 12t cb, and 48t spur it should be a beast down low. As it is now it has way more top speed than I need.

The jumps are spaced great. The Mug jumps em easier than I thought it would. I've never had it on a real track. Haven't gotten to try the lst2 on it yet. It needs one new steering servo. I swiped one of the 202oz servos for the Mug. The biggest double is in a curve and it's super slick. He managed to land on the roof of my shop one time but I missed it because I was swapping lenses. Pretty funny. The little jumps were intended to be a double double double but the Mug goes quad then two pretty easy. I'm gonna try to rearrange the curves.

He slid out on the face here. Lol

Very hard impact (look at the front wheel) but no damage

Sweet looking jumps!! Damn, if it would only stop raining here I'd be able to clean up my track. It's nothing but a soggy over grown mess right now.

That's good to know,I thought they would be every bit as tough as the LST2's. MUGGY is still on the want list, just have to many projects right now, sure you all know how that is.

Well I will vouche for the Muggy being durable and can take any abuse you give it. I went out yesterday to relieve some stress due to work out here in Iraq and found a kick arse jump that launches it about 10-15 feet in the air and land on a semi flat surface. I did that for almost a full tank pulled a couple backflips off of it also, all i have to say about the muggy is awesome and i am very glad i bought it. The only problem i have with it is the toe links on the front end bend a bunch but i geuss that is from me landing all crazy and sideways. But anyone know how long the toe links are so i can see if i can find some beefier ones to put on.

SR, I know the feeling. It's beautiful while I'm at work and 100+ degrees or raining if I'm off.

T-Maxx, Get a vid up!

I got the 48t spur on. Went ahead with a new 12t bell, long life shoes, 1.0 springs, and brake pads. I had to put washers under the center diff support to give the spur enough clearance, but other than that it bolted right in. I only had time to run about two tanks through it. I like it so far. 48t spur/12t cb/truggy tire combo is an exercise in throttle control on slick turns. It's very easy to spin around and snaps hard once the clutch grabs. She needs almost no running room for the jumps on my track now, if I roll into the throttle and don't spin that is, which I need lots more practice at. Top speed has definately been reduced, but it's unnecessary for where I drive. I'll know if I like it better in a few days when I get some time off.

Willclark its real hard for me to load up videos due to the fact that it takes so much bandwidth over here in Iraq. I have no problem resizing pics and posting pics up but video will have to wait until i get back to the states. But i will try to get a camera person to take some pics while i am doing a little bashing . I do not think you will be disapointed about getting the mugg. I dont plan on doing any hardcore racing but i know that if i do i wont have to change that much on the truck to get it up to racing condition. Good luck and enjoy Will.
