Yeah but did your drawers return home the same color as they left!!??

Actually my buddy was flying it as I was puckered up watching!!! The bird handled great (He said), Tracked straight , We only clicked a few down trim from our bench setup and a few on the Ailerons as my bird has a small warp in one of the control surfaces that I need to Iron out but was out of time.....

My Sundowner flew this past Sunday. Other than a bit of up trim, it flew like it was on rails.

It holds a straight line even during a hard banked turn.

But thats what it was designed to do.

It will loop, roll, stall turn, e tc. But it's definitely not an all-out aerobatic model.

The Fuji 26 with an APC 15-10 turning 8600 on the ground provides "brisk" performance.

No way to measure speed, but several at the fielf estimated in the 90 MPH range.

But what do they know?

It lands a bit fast but I'm still getting used to the flight envelope.

Weight is 12.5 pounds dry.

Yeah pettit, The sundowner will use up all of the runway on landings for sure! ( the first 2 test attempts were alittle hot and no way was she slowing down) Mine w/ OS 160 weighed in at 12 lbs and 1 ounce dry. I was using a larger 2700 mah NIMH that was alittle on the heavy side, plus I used one of the larger heavy steel elevator tubes to CG. I look forward to flying her again soon as soon as my new OS arrives!

Anybody setup flaperons to get her to slow down a bit on approach.

Marty

Bsyguy01,

How do you get to your low-speed adjust screw?

If you mean the idle stop screw, we just take it off completely.

I sawed the aluminum bracket it threads into off too.

Idle speed and engine stop are controllred by the throttle servo.

Dick,

I mean the idle mixture adjust screw. Looks like the cowl would have to come off in order to adjust this.

bzyguy... I'm just wondering if you have any concerns about the engine getting too hot in your beautifully cut cowl. Looks like you have no room for the air to escape the cowl area. I think you need 3-4 times (help me out here guys) the intake area for air to escape.

Man I'd hate to see you have to cut up the bottom, but deadsticks and a ruined engine is worse.

Wanna cut some holes for me? You're a lot better at it than I am! Usually looks like a rabid beaver got a hold of my cowls.

Kostas 1 ....Thank you...My friend Paul is to thank for his excellent building skills...I've learned alot and it has been a pleasure building with him.

dgliderguy...I have a very small hole in my cowell now that was not in the previous pics to get to my low needle adjustment. ( See new pic ) Its the new small one in the front...I'm sure you knew that tho...

reincarnate....Yes I am curious about that. I have not had a chance to start tests yet. I will be testing the temps and air flow situation...There is a very large downdraft exit just after the underside of the cowell for air flow. It is very large but I am still going to be testing temps with an onboard digital remp sensor/recorder. I might have to baffle one side??? I will list my results but I'm bzy trying to finish a few other birds as we speak.

Petit....Maybee I should start doing reviews....I see that we have a few of the same birds! I love my WM 1/3 cub!
