While at the NATS I was told Mark Leseberg was supposed to fly it, but unfortunately he broke his foot I believe right before the NATS and couldn't make it.

Thanks Arch, I was curious who the mystery pilot was and if the plane made its big debut. I'm always ready for a new pattern plane siting and report.

I have the same question as well, I'd love to pick one up, even if they are $2,500 per! Only other choice right now would be the Inspire 90, but since I already have a 60, would rather get this one.

I believe Derek Koopowitz, Nsrca President, learned at the IMS show that it will be out soon.. Look for details in an upcoming Kfactor.. At least, that's what he put in his Feb Kfactor article..

The Element 170 will hopefully be available by mid-year. It is undergoing some additional refinements to make it even a better flying plane. Unfortunately the original one that came here last year crashed due to radio interference at a field down in the LA area - someone turned their radio on accidentally - so flight reports on the plane are unavailable - thus delaying the completion of the production run.

I was at a contest with a guy affiliated with them this weekend.. He said August is when they get here. Then they are hand painted here..
There is also the wood 170 version that will be here sooner I believe.. $600 I was told..

We'll see though..

I agree. Looking forward to both actually though..

On another note, I own a Mini Inspire and really like it.. I won a Inspire 90 this weekend at the contest raffle.. I opened it last night.. They quality is like no other wood arf I have seen. Covering is very, very nice. No wrinkles.. I put the stab and wings on.. They are straight with each other.. I'm very impressed.. And most of you know how picky I am.. lol
If the Element wood arf is as nice and light as this Inspire for $600, I will get a few..

Still, I'll wait patiently for a great Fliton quality finish on these...

Sounds interesting.

A wood (and covered?) version for $600 . . could be the BEST entry level 2M plane ever produced ???

They will sell a load . .

I know Alex.. I won a kit from him down at a contest a few weeks back.. He fly's with us in D7 and is with Fliton..
It's real.. I got the pics a few days ago from him.. Not sure if the July Kfactor is out, but I have a pic of what I won, plus others that Alex sent me.. He's real and had a huge banner there for the wood Element 170.. Plus he told me I could order the Composite version..

Anyone know the release date on the wood version, and where I can get it? Or should I contact Alex directly?

I have known Alex for about 6 years, an he's a man of is word. What Fliton is doing, is testing the Pattern Market.
The Element 170 is a bigger version of the smaller Element 30.The Element 170 will be sold is Limted Qty, 150 will be shipped to Japan, and 30 will come to the USA. There will be 2 version,
the ARF 170 all wood and the Composite 170 version, that you have to paint and cover. Fliton USA in CA
is in the middle of moving to a bigger warehouse,an that's the reason the 800- number is out of
service. On a side note that's Ralph Depalma, on the cover of RC AIR World, Go Dist 7

I know their are two versions, but It looks to me that both versions are different by looking at both photos (magazine cover and the actual photos. I will assume as assuming is,.. the all wood version, which is a one piece wing and a the composite version, which seems to be a two piece wing? Would someone be so kind as to provide some clarification on this,....please.

I certianlly like the looks and lines of the plane, wonder if we will see one at the NATS here shortly,......anyone.........???

I need a new pair birds!

From what Alex told us a few weeks ago, there will be two versions. The $600 all wood, one piece wing version and the all out composite two piece wing version. It is probably fair to say that they won't have much in common other than general outline. You can see the differences in the pictures posted.

The $600 price seems reasonable. Their Inspire 90 goes for $350. A larger 170 size airframe of similar construction seems very possible at $600.

I think this is great. An affordable entry level airframe from a quality manufacturer. Should help the sport overall.

Yeah absolutely. The one thing keeping me out of pattern is that availability of a great-flying, well-built, AFFORDABLE airframe! I'm psych'd!
