Logic tells me the setscrew would go into the recessed area otherwise whats the point of it being their. problem is when I removed the screw on mine and looking into the hole, its right in the middle, so now I think i have a problem.

You say the set screw seems to be sitting in the middle of the recessed area? If so, that is correct. Last night I took mine loose and tightened the set screw down as far as I could get it and still be in the flat area, and I have about 1/2mm at most of play in the shaft up and down. I think I will just leave it there, I feel better having it set in the flat rather than just clinging to the shaft!

Well Ijust talked with the guy I bought it from up in Washington State. He did not even see this and also the replacement shafts are not recessed all the way around but with only two simple flat spots, one on each side for the screw to set into. So with this, I decided to take a small file and file me a flat spot on each side for the screw to seat better.

you might want to consider filing the flat spot lower so you can get the shaft down tight against the brg. any up/down play is gonna give you unwanted changes in blade pitch in flight. plus, the shaft will be turning IN the brg instead of the brg itself turning.
or, get a new shaft. i just know you don't want any play in the main shaft.

i'm still building my hdx450sev3. my set screw tightend in the middle of the flat.

OK - why are some setscrews tightening in the right place, and some are not? Guess I'll pull mine out and file the flat spaces lower so it will be setting right. I have been having an ongoing conversation with HeliDirect - they are supposed to be shipping me out a replacement shaft, but I don't think that's the issue - both the original shaft (with the groove all the way around) and the replacement I ordered with my kit (with the 2 flat spots) the recessed area is in the exact same spot on the shaft! But, in case I'm halucinating, I'll triple check again!

Seems like a simple solution is to just file a flat spot.

Will the T-Rex main gear fit the HDX450?

Hi Everyone,

I think I have seen postings that say HDX-450 is the same as CopterX with a different name.

Can anyone who has both helis confirm this or describe the differences between the two?

Thank you

Quick glance the CopterX has graphite frame - the HDX has phenolic - no interference, and much stronger.

The CopterX is a direct copy of the Trex SE. The HDX has its own frame design with a head that is very similar to the Trex and thats about it for similarities. However a lot of parts of the Trex are compatible with HDX but all the parts of the copterX are compatible

The HDX450 uses the SuperFrame - it's about $70 at HeliDirect by itself!

So I gather that the HDX has a stronger frame while Copter X has a strong frame and is fully compatible with TREX.
That makes Copter X seem like the reasonable way to go.

That's a questions better asked in a CopterX thread, not the HDX thread!

My view on it is that CopterX is still make... by Walkera. I've owned a walkera, and wasn't impressed with their quality. I have no first hand experience with the X, but that's my bias. I love my HDX, and replacement parts are 90% compatible with the Trex, and if not they're still cheap through helidirect. IMHO
