Thats a nice added feature now that CC purchased Berg. I have not tried it yet, but it is a nice added feature.

Had a conversation with them about BEC voltage adjustments on the CC ESC - said it was fixed at 5v 3amps. He said they have new BECs that you can adjust the voltage between 4.8 and 9v. He said they were going to incorporate this feature into their new ESCs with BEC - will be out this year!

Michael, how's that build coming? I need to route and tie down wires - ended up mounting my gyro upside down below the tail boom mount, put the RX on the RX tray, will probably mount the ESC somwhere in the bottom that I can get to the motor connections.

Hey,
Have not had much time, lots of business during the holidays, and I'm getting ready to relax in the sun in southern Mexico for a week (Jan 10 - 19). Still got my servo's mounted up, but not much else

we need some pics of your hdx450se's. it would be interesting to see the different placements of rx and esc and so forth.
also if anyone has flown it, what do you think? also any tips on the build you might have learned along the way.

plus, we need to keep this thread going. it keeps dropping down to the bottom. those MINI TITAN guys are always up near the top. can't let them show us up

I finally pulled the trigger on a heli. I pre-ordered the Blade 400 months ago but decided against it and cancelled the day before it was released.

I have been wavering back and forth between the HDX450 and the CopterX.
I decided that Heli Direct's service and quick shipping was high on my list of priorities so I just placed an order for an HDX.

Here's my parts list, feel free to comment or critique:

-- HDX 450SE v3 black frame w/Motor
-- ESC: Hobbywing Pentium 30A-OPTO with built-in UBEC (30A is lower than I would've liked but Larry@HD recommended it)
-- Programming card for ESC
-- Gyro: Logictech 2100T
-- Cyclic Servos: Hitec HS-65HG (Karbonite gear...can swap for metal gearset later, but karbonite is quieter and wears better than the metal)
-- Tail servo: Futaba S9650 Digital
-- Battery: Megapower 2200mah 18C (I have a couple 1350 lipos for my Blade CP, will those work also or are they too light?)
-- Swashplate leveler tool

This will be my first heli build. I'm more of an RTF guy, I would much rather fly than build but I'm actually looking forward to it.
This thread has been extremely helpful already, I have compiled a document full of tips and pictures from the thread to help with the build.

Other than updated finless videos, the only thing I would like to see is a complete list of all the compatible Align parts and upgrades.

sounds like you got all the good stuff . i also went with a 30a esc. would rather have had 35a but i,m told 30a is fine for most
flying except hard 3d, and i,m a long way from that . heck, a nice controlled hover would make me happy .
i'm glad to see anouther lt2100 gyro user. was startin to think i was the only one. i've heard alot of good things about it.

the build goes pretty smooth. just watch the dvd a couple of times. there's a few things different on the v3 from the video, but you'll
figure em out. just ask here if you get stuck.

what tx you gonna go with. i,m waiting on the spectrum dx6i, so i,m at a stand still till it comes out. supposed to be soon.
the dx7 is probaly a better choice if the funds allow. my banker ( wife ) is already lookin at me funny with what i,ve spent so far,
( 5 helis ) so i,m tryin to stay under budget

as far as upgrades go, there isn't really much more to add to the hdx450se. it's blinged out pretty good. you'll be impressed.
maybe someone else on here can let us know what align parts fit. the head and the boom i think.

let us know how your build goes.

WE NEED PICS !

Depending on my excitement/irritation with the build I'll try to remember to get some pictures along the way.

I'm sure I'll be asking for some help along the way, this will be my first build. The only "building" I've done has been rebuilding my Blade CP after crashes. I've installed a couple car audio systems and build my own computers so wiring and small electronics aren't completely new to me. As long as the parts are quality I'm sure I won't have too much trouble.

The Dx6i is out already, I think. Check out http://www.thebarnfloor.com for some good pricing. Never ordered from them though, so I can't vouch for them.

I'm looking at the Dx6i, Dx7, Futaba 6EX and Futaba 7CH. Can't decide yet. Almost leaning towards the Spektrums so I can pick up additional receivers for half the price of the Futabas. I would like to add a couple more electric airplanes to my fleet.

i checked out the barnfloor.com. dx6i will be in stock jan 20. 179.00 w/rx is same price everywhere, so i think i'll let my LHS
have the sale. unless i change my mind before then . there's some good deals on EBAY for the dx7. i just don't like EBAY.
always seems kinda iffy. i'm gettin kinda anxious tho, i've had my heli built for weeks. i'd sure like to fly it.
i've got a walkera tx/rx i could put on it but, NOT !!

restinpieces,

Did you call them to get that date of Jan 20? I don't see it listed anywhere on the site.
If you add the Dx6i to your cart you will see their actual price. Cheapest shipping for me is $9.75 for a total of $169.74

It comes with an AR6200 though, which comes with an additional antenna, would you guys recommend a lighter 6100 over the 6200 for a 450 size heli?

How do you figure $80 is half the price of a Futaba RX??
