I've been using the trex flybars (either 200 or 220mm, I forget) for a while on my HDX and it works flawlessly. Right now my HDX is grounded until Medusa sends me back my motor, which I sent in for repair (I think one of the bearings went. The shaft wasn't perfectly still, and was shredding the main gear).

Too bad about your motor, hope you get it back soon.

Yeah I went ahead and ordered that new align v2 main gear. I hope it's worth the $16 or whatever spent on it, and gets rid of my wobble. Got some blades, another battery tray to replace the receiver tray (I'll post pics), the 200mm flybars, and some CF paddles. Can't wait to get it all in.

This looks like a nice heli. What is the link to the kit?

Some good flying in those videos and I too was having a big problem getting past the, "This is not sim, it will cost money if I crash!". AFter many hours on the sim I decided to get up the confidence and just do it. Once you make that leap, everything is a piece of cake after that.

It's tough to make the leap, but it's worth it!

It's not the HDX, but here's one of my first inverted flights.

http://media.putfile.com/Raptor-50-Titan-Hover

Hopefully this will inspire some.

When I started doing inverted I would flip it and them flip it back upright. Slowly I would stay inverted longer and longer until I was good with the controls, but nothing beats the sim.

Nice flying. You can get the HDX at http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=1171.

Not a bad price except that the motor and ESC need to replaced out of the box. It'd be nice if they put a 430L and Align 35A ESC in there. I'm sure they could've done that without increasing the price point by much.

Really? I don't think it comes with an ESC, but what's wrong with the stock motor? I kinda consider the motor a bonus, the price is really for the kit only. I haven't tried the stock motor, I'm using the combo you listed above.

I'm using that as well on my MX 450, great set up.

It says there is a new motor, but only 3400kv. I thought I heard him discussing an included ESC, but it does say that is is required.

Hmm, why would the diff between 3400kv and 3550kv be worth buying a whole new motor? I'm pretty sure that motor is rated wrong too. The included motor should be this one, which is 3550kv and roughly equivalent in power to the JGF 450TH motor, so they say.

LOL, good point. For some reason I was remembering the 430 as 4550kv.

Doesn't look all that bad actually. How thick are the frame members?

The frame is about 1.75mm thick. I've been meaning to swap out my 430L for the stock one and see how it compares. I'll have to do that next chance I get. People say they're about the same.

I'm using the stock motor and it seems to be a liitle more powerful than the Align 430L my friend has in his Trex. I put an 11th pinion on it, mine seems to have a better/faster climb out than his, but he seems to get a couple more minutes run time on his, he has 11th pinion also.

I had to replace the landing gear on mine today, had the battery start dying out quicker than I could bring it in, cracked the stock HDX plastic gear, everything wlse was fine. I bought some black Trex gear and they look better because of they are swept forward.

I like flying this way better than my Blade CP, it is way more stable.

Ooooh good to know, thanks! Were yall using the same mah and C batteries? How many minutes did you get, and how many did he get?

After hearing that I'll definitely swap motors before flying again, and see how it feels. I run an 11T on 3S as well and climbouts are fine, but if it try to do any 3D it bogs the head.

One of my local heli friends loaned me a spare Medusa 28-32-3400 ( nice guy, not a cheap motor!), and I'll try that too. I use a 3S for my sport flying, and a 4S for my 3D flying. I have a feeling the medusa will work better on the 4S with that lower KV, but I dunno if I want to shell out the $$ to buy it from him if I like it .

I use 2100mah 20C batteries on my MX450 with 11T and it gets about 8 minutes of flight with a good climbout.

We are both using TP 2100 and Hex Tronik 2200 batteries, I am getting between 7 and 9 minutes, he seems to get a little longer. I am using the govermor mode on a CC35, he is using the Align ESC with fixed endpoints. Neither of us are doing 3D yet just sport flying. I guess we are getting good times from what others have posted.

How is it with the 4S, I may try one in the future, are you using a BEc with it?

Yeah i'm using a SportBEC.

I usually hit the align cutout around 7 minutes with the 3S, haven't timed the 4S, probably shorter b/c of the higher headspeed.

Lol all I can say is crazy nice headspeed. As you know the 430L isn't the most 3D capable motor anymore, and with a 3S and 13T the best you can pull out of it is about 2900rpm. Well, the 4S with 11T is awesome, it feels like i'm getting 3000-3200, and it doesn't bog (nearly as much) when doing flips and rolls. I'm interested to see if the stock HDX 450th is even better, and can't wait to see the medusa
