No blades yet, I haven't got the receiver or anything yet, just servos. I learned a few things on this the hard way. Not real hard but I'm catching on. You see whenIget that all in, and time to really adjust it all, seems to me like a simpler way. I'll center the servos, raise the swash plate to get the mixers level and put shims/blocks resting on the frame under the swashplate to level it and adjust the linkage as necessary. Very simple task which comes after staring at it forever and not being in a hurry.

OK - here's the deal - took it to the LHS, showed the guy, said "HDX450?", I said yes, how did he know - says he got one also. He looked at mine and asked why the flange below the swashplate was so high - I said it was already on there - he said his was loose in a bag - he showed me the groove in the main shaft where it was supposed to go (1/2" lower!) so I went to untighten it and it was almost completely loose! Don't know if it slipped on there by itself, or was put on there, but it wasn't tight and too high!! The set screws go in the 1/16" groove on the main shaft. Let me know if that flange is already pushed onto your shaft!

Are youtalking about the locking collar that keeps the shaft from falling below?

Yes! Was yours already on your shaft?

No, I just assumed it went down against the shaft mount.

See, that was the problem - mine was on the shaft, and one setscrew was tight enough it didn't move with light force! It had me going around in circles!

Well, turns out where the collar was on the shaft I have a small hickey on the shaft, so now I need to get some emery cloth to try to polish it down so the swashplate will move smoothly!!

The guy that sold it to me says he opened his last night, and the collar was also mounted on the shaft, too high!

I know theres no warning labels but you really should keep these parts out of your mouth! How about a dremel with a polisher wheel

Well, I've got one, I just thought emery cloth would be easier without putting another ding in it!

Heads up on the new V3 frame assembly - the aluminum block on the swashplate brace goes to the REAR of the frame!! Otherwise, the brace will not engage the swashplate fully.

Actually, both are correct - look at the position of the bar - it's towards the tail. Also, don't threadlock the screws until you get the links all hooked up - easier to work on. And I mounted my servos (Hitec HS65-MGs) in the rightmost hole of where it was supposed to mount - even then, when using the single arm I had to mount the ball link on the innermost hole.

Heres another "snowball" for you. We have 3 servos up their. One on the left side, One on the right side and one up front.

Now the front servo is easy to get to after its mounted to adjust as necessary. The left side servo is also a piece of cake after its mounted. But the right side is not good but can be if you leave the left side out or at least a couple screws in it so you won't have to keep taking them all out. Follow me here?

Yeah, I have found some issues with the build video - it seems out of order - one section shows mounting the head and main gear, then the next section is mounting the servos, but the main gear is missing! Then next section is adjusting the servos, and the main gear is mysteriously back! I found out center your servos and figure out where the ball ends go BEFORE you mount them - they are impossible to work on after mounting. Also, keep the head and main gear off until you get the servos mounted! Also, here's a note I dropped to HeliDirect:

==========
When I got my HDX450, the collar was tightened down high up on the shaft (maybe to keep the swash from banging around). Anyway, when I loosened it to move it down where it is supposed to be (the groove in the shaft) I noticed that there was a burr on the shaft where the setscrew was tightened down. I tried smoothing it down with 320 sandpaper, but couldn't get it as smooth as I would like - I had ordered a spare shaft when I ordered the heli, so I decided to use the spare shaft. Well, the new shaft has 2 flats on the shaft, not a groove! - worse, when I tighten the collar down to take out any slop, I don't believe the set screws are engaging the flat. Yes, I made sure I put the shaft in right side up - if I reverse it, the groove is down in the bearing race. I had 2 spacers in my package - was one an extra, or do both spaces go on top of the gear?
==========

Now I'm concerned - the flat/groove area is so the setscrew doesn't leave a burr in the shaft so you can get parts off, but on my replacement shaft, the flat is a tad too high, and I'm pretty sure the setscrew is biting into the shaft below the flat area - if I measure the old and new shaft, the flat/groove is in the same place, so I'm wondering what is wrong/missing??

BTW, I ended up making my servo linkages 45mm, seemed to be about right. One of the servo linkage shafts the threads were buggered up, and the ball socket wouldn't screw on properly - went to the LHS and picked up a T-Rex set of linkages, and worked fine!
