I have a ZDZ 60 and a 3W-24 going into planes now and was wondering type and size of tanks people are using. Have the stuff to convert Dubro tanks but now is the time to change if you have better ideas.
Thanks for the info.

Hey Brian,

Just don't use the tank that came with the bird or it will look like my cap in a few flights.

Captin John,
The 3W is going to replace a Moki 1.8 on my Stinger 120. The Moki was a great engine but to hard to start in cold weather, very easy to hand start in summer. Anyway, engine is on the bench so why not. Along those lines I'm also putting a G38 in my well worn H9 232 72" ? wing (again the engine is there, so why not). Funny thing is I had a YS 120 with 11oz. of lead under engine and was still tail heavy. With the G38 I put the rudder servoe in the tail, moved the elevator servoe to the rear former at wing trailing edge and moved battery to same position, fuel tank on c.g. and now balances right on. Will probably fly it this way next week. The ZDZ 60 is going on a Lanier Cap 232, kit built, that I will fly in IMAC this summer.

Leni,
Have fun flying this weekend if it warms up. First weekend I'm not coaching hockey in 2 months. I hear my sled and the Hills calling.

I have had the best luck with sullivan tanks. The nylon end caps hold up much better than Dubro which are too soft. The tanks hold up to gas well also.

The 3W-24 burns 24-26 cc per min (slightly less than 1 oz) full bore. The tank can be sized for your style of flying and length of desired flight.

BENGEN; Let me(us) know how the G38 works out on the Hanger 9 cap 72". I have a G38 and I like that plane. Have you test run the 3w-24 much, and what muffler options work with it? Thanks Very Much Captain John

Will stay in touch on the Cap 232. I've had the 3W-24 about a month and haven't even run it yet. It came with a pitts style muffler. I believe the one that Cactus Aviation sells with them. Bought this from a guy that decided to go bigger for his plane after reading posts online (read as I got a good deal on a new engine). Alot of the posts on these forums about engine sizes I believe you have to read with a grain of salt. Anyway I had a YS 120 SF on this Cap before this and it handled it great. Love YS engines.
