As this thread continues, I am starting to belive that this is false. 4 pages and no vids, you could at least post a pic of how you used a standard ESC.

Fun thread!!! Just got done reading everything. I have a 'pede that for fun I tried to turn into a racer. lowered and widened, with a Novak ESC and 12t race motor got me to about 35 mph (just a guesstimate, never had it clocked). Got to admit, I am curious how one could modify a brushed esc to power a brushless motor... The esc in a brushed system is practically a potentiometer, regulating the power supplied to the motor. In a brushless system (sensorless), the esc actually 'reads' the voltage generated by the motor as it turns. This is so it knows which wire to send current to, and how long, at any given time. It would seem counterintuitive to be able to use a strictly brushed esc to run a brushless, being as how they operate in a completely different fasion.

I doubt he will post anything until tonight because he probably has a full time job during the day. If I was able to convert a regular esc to run brushless I wouldn't post pics of it. Next thing you know someone is stealing his idea and taking the credit for it. If anything I would hide all the the solders and wiring just to show that its true and show it taking off. I hope he does prove it tonight to put an end to the madness.

I hate to be negative, but I don't think it's possible. If I had even a little more experience I would go out on a limb and say that it simply isn't possible, but I hate being proven wrong so I will bite my tongue. I just don't see how any ammount of journeyman lineman skills can convert what ammounts to a potentiometer into mosfets that respond to rotor position.

Hey, i dont know anything about electronics, so i really cant say on the esc thing. But, i do beleve that with the right motor and ther right aftermarket parts, and some serious dremeling and modification, then you could be able to get a pede up to 66 mph, expessially on a dragstrip type surface.
