the giles 202 140 is a great flying plane. although on my third landing i came in a little hot. and bounced the plane and broke the carbon fiber gear . it was not a very hard landing although the carbon gear on the pilots right snapped. the problem is i have been waiting for three weeks for a replacement only to find out it may take another 3 because they are backordered . does anyone know where i can get a replacement set sooner. they can be carbon or aluminum. i just want to fly again.

Might be kinda late but here is how to fix it.
Take some black thread and start wrapping it tightly around the break and go about a 1/2 to 3/4in on each side of the bend. once you have it wrapped use thin CA and soak all the thread. Let it dry and your ready to go. Chip Hide was selling some aluminum gear that would work on this plane. So when mine broke as your's have i called to order the gear from him and after telling him the problem he gave me the fix and the fix works great!

Pretty much everybody I know who has ever had carbon fiber landing gear on their planes, (including me), has experienced a similar failure at the same exact stress point on the gear. You don't have to ground your plane for many weeks waiting for some lame product support guy to eventually get you the part. My suggestion is to replace the carbon fiber gear with a comparable sized aluminum gear set. The one mentioned in the previous post will likely work, but there are also many sizes available as aftermarket replacements that will work fine. The difference in weight is minimal, especially since this isn't some small featherweight e-plane we're talking about here, and the aluminum will take a pounding without cracking or bending. Just make sure the aluminum set you buy is a close approximate match in height, so you don't have to worry about prop strikes. Also, they should be approximately the same width as the fuse, or similar in dimension to your OEM gear. Hope this helps.
