I will be using JR8611a servos on all surfaces except the throttle. The battery pack I have for the reciever and servos is a 6V 2000mah HIMH with dual leads to allow you to use two switches. Is this sufficent for these servos? What is the minimum safe battery requirements to fly this plane with these servos? I have considered the duralite powerbox setup with the dual Li-Ion packs for this plane but at the cost I really want to know it is neccesary. Also can I charge these duralite battery packs with my Triton charger.

Also I saw a tech note about these JR servos and would like to know if it is a cause for concern? Something about the gears stripping.

And lastly when cutting the cowling for the DA50 R should I cut the black filler out that is in the front of the cowl surrounding the crankshaft?

Thanks
Andy

Andy,

Gears of 8611 won't strip on our 50cc Yak. They are far stronger than that. As far as battery goes, 2000 is very marginal and you will get very few flights. I would consider the Gemeni System instead of powerbox for both cost and weight consideration. You can charge Duralite batteries with your Triton with no problems. Here's the link on the Gemeni thread I made http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5933342/tm.htm No only it will give you the redundancy but is very reliable! Powerbox is an awesome option but I would consider it for 100CC and bigger.

don't cut the black ring. Leave it there
Thank you,
Reza

Thanks Reza. The tech notice on the 8611a gears was located on JR's website and it was a problem with servos sold for May 1 2006 until about August 2006. I will have to check the guy who originaly bought this plane.

I will look at this gemini setup. I was concerned with the size of my batteries. Just want to be safe.

Thanks
Andy

Andy,

Gemeni batteries are very small and light Please PM me before you order if you decided to go by that set up.

Thank you,
Reza
