Hi, I have a contest in another country next week, so I have to travel by air and I wonder if someone have any experience with LiPo batteries and airport / airlines regulations. Any recommendations? It's better to send it with the luggage (model box) or carry them with hand bagage? I'm worried to arrive to my destination and not have my batteries with me

Nearly every cell phone and most laptop computers have been using Lipo batteries for about 5 years.
Owners of them don't get hassled about their batteries, why should you?

Hi,

I was checking the list of band items for a trip of my own and found this on an airline website:

Electronic consumer items containing lithium-based batteries, such as watches, calculators, cameras, mobile phones, laptops, video cameras, etc. when they are transported by passengers for personal use. Spare batteries should be protected individually to prevent short circuits, and only be transported in carry-on luggage. Also, each spare battery should not exceed the following quantities:
a) For lithium-based or lithium-mix batteries: a lithium content of less than 2 grams or
b) For ionized lithium batteries: aggregate lithium content equivalent to less than 8 grams.
Ionized lithium batteries with an aggregate lithium content equivalent to more than 8 grams, but no more than 25 grams, may be transported in carry-on luggage if they are protected individually to prevent short circuits and are limited to two spare batteries per person

So, how did you get the batteries to your contest?

Hi, well I protected connectors with tape, and put the batteries in soft bags, covered with clothes to prevent them from being hit in transport, and put them in my checked luggage. They arrived to the contest and returned safe and sound. In Colombia our luggage was checked but said nothing about the batteries. Actually I cached a third place in the competition between Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela .
