Mike,
Just had an idea and thought I'd run it by you. With the amazing electronic devices we have nowadays, how tough would it be for JR to come up with a device that would plug into the throttle channel and monitor engine RPM, and then drive the throttle servo to maintain whatever RPM the throttle stick was set for. In other words the throttle stick would be controlling the RPM not the butterfly in the carb. 1/2 stick would give you half of the available RPM. This would eliminate the non-linearity of the carbs we now use and provide exact repeatability and programmability for precision aerobatics. Seems like a little black box about the size of a matchbox could do the trick and a wire wrapped around the spark plug wire would serve as the engine RPM sensor. Has this already been tried? What do you think?
