I just ordered the new Giant Scale J3 Piper Cub 120 from Nitro Models. When I received the plane I looked over it and everything loooked nice and I was happy with it I failed to realize that the cowl, windshield, and servo covers were a completely different color than the plane until I was building it. I called Nitro Models support, which was very considerate and fast. The rep told me to send some pictures of the parts and he would ship out some new ones. After I sent the pictures he replied saying the following, "Hi kevin ths for the picture , i have check already on the colr and that is how they comes in it is not really yellow but a depper color on all the plane wego on this item . sorry i do not have have the identical cowling color of the fusalage." They did offer to refund my money but I have already started building the plane and I don't want to have to get stiffed for the shipping. Do not buy this plane unless you are ok with having to sand down all of these parts and repaint them, unless of course you don't mind having a two-toned Cub. I will try to post the pics here so you can make your own decision.

Just received another email from NM offering free shipping on my next order. I will not be making anymore orders from them though so that still does not resolve anything.

I have no clue why the color are different but I'm sure the manufacturer has a reason to make it different. I will contact them and see what's the real reason and if they can make changes to future kits. If they are able to provide us new replacement of cowls to fit you need, I will send you the cowling. Wait for my answer

Thanks

That may be fine for you but when I buy an "ARF" I don't expect to have to repaint anything. I don't enjoy building. I just like to fly. Besides, the cub yellow is lighter and it will not cover the darker color. I am going to have to sand it down first and then repaint it. I just want to make sure everyone else knows that the paint does not match before they order this plane and are disappointed. I would like to have known this before I ordered the plane.

hi there sir

just got word from the factory today and they admitted that the supplier for them were at fault for providing the wrong color. good news is that they promised to replace the 100 kits we received from them but the uncertainty is that we are not sure if they are willing to express us the replacement set...anyhow, just to let you know as soon as i receive them, i will send you the parts out

You going to be marking down the kits with the funky two-tone parts?

Some of us don't mind a little rework.

Rick

I doubt they will mark them down any,
Note: Replacements, so with a big company that means, returns to factory,
not freebies.
