I read somewhere on some post that putting both the front and rear pins verticaly will make it easier to insert and remove retainer pins although the instructions say to install the rear vertical and the front horizontal. Is it OK to install both pins vertical?

Thanks
Andy

I set the front ones angled back at 45 and the rear verticle. It worked out good for me with the way I set up my switches.

Andy, it is OK if your tank or other stuff are not going to interfer with mounting the pin. Please make sure you won't run into any problems inserting the pin.

Because of the mods I did to my 85" the cannister tunnel and tank are somewhat in the way to put the pins in, both are mounted vertically to facilitate putting them in, so I am considering bending up a piano wire pin long enough to reach the top of the canopy line and bent over and fixed into the top of the fus this would make the whole set up easier to do at the field, will post pics when I get it done, worth doing to this plane as its such a pleasure to fly anything that make's it quicker to rig at the field is going to be worthwhile.

Because I put a cannister tunnel in my 85" the tunnel was some what in the way when installing the pins, so I have modded the installation by bending up some pins out of piano wire, I have also permenatly installed the washers to facilitate quick rigging at the field. Oh yes the pins are held in place by quick links, once the canopy is on the only way they can go is down into the fixing.

I too read on the forums about mounting the front pins in the vertical position. However, the manual was pretty adamant about mounting them horizontally. So I mounted them horizontally. Big mistake; they are very hard to access now and basically, a big PITA when getting the plane ready to fly. Mount them vertically, you won't regret it.

Don't even consider mounting them Horizontal. I did that and I just hate it, mounting them vertically is the best way. I don't even know why it's suggested to mount them horizontal, the tank is in the way.

As much as I admire Rezah and QS for this wonderfull flying machine, I have to agree don't mount them horizontally, the new 86" manual says mount the front pin vertically one assumes because of the built in tunnel for the cannister, my mods shown above have made the whole thing a lot easier.

EDIT: to show a clearer picture of the pins.
