Okay well the plane came in the other day and I had some time and a ride to go pick it up. I have all the surfaces except the rudder ready to be hinged. I have the elevator glued. Tomorrow I am hoping to have the motor mounted the rest of the of the hinges glued as well as have the landing gear assembled. I will continue to have pics and I will keep you posted.

Cut them a little slack they are completely almost swamped with orders. But anyway I have a progress report on my build. I am behind from where I wanted to be. I did get the motor mounted. I used 1.25 inch dowels as my spacers for the engine. I will keep you posted on the build.

Guys:

We are still waiting for the shipment of the graphics. We moved the Sukhois back behind other orders in the hopes that we will ship them complete. They will be going out soon either way.

Talk two more fellow modelers into buying a bunny though, and this is without even seeing it fly yet.

Mike:

Very pretty, nice job on the graphics.

What engine/muffler is that?

What kind of problems are you having with the radio?

Thank you, Thats the BME 50 with a stock muffler. I really wanted to go with the cannister but I think I will save up for a spectrum system instead.
I'm having a very bad case of RF blues. With my engine running I can't walk farther than 10 feet before the servos go crazy. I check over a lot of things while at the field in an effort to get the maiden in ,ut no luck so far. I thought the problem might be with the servos for the choke and throttle being up front, but when I disconnnect them from the reciever and pull the wires away the effect was the same.

While reading up in the gas engine forum on RF problems, I learned that if the interference happens slightly less than the engine off distance (35-50% of engine off), that it might be RFI related and if it's much worse than that it might be vibration related. Either way I'm trying to narrow it down. The weird thing is this complete system, engine and all came out of my WH bipe which I had just recently flew 2 weeks ago with absolutely no issues. In going over the CH ignition unit I noticed the hall effect sensor lead looked weird. I moved it a little and it broke away from the bracket. Terry from CH is sending me a new one. When it arrives and I'll be able to continue trobleshooting the problems.

That small metal box you see on the top part of the engine is the CH Ignit.

They say your range check should not diminish more than 10% with the engine running compared to the engine off range check.

It sounds to me like you are having an ignition problem. How does it do with the engine not running?

C&H has a tester that you can use to simulate the engine running, it drives the ignition as if the engine is running at full throttle. I think they are only $25 or something like that, I've found it to be a worthwhile tool.

Also, I suggest that you try testing it with a FM (not PCM) receiver. THis will be much more sensitive to problems and will make it easier to identify what's wrong.

Good luck. Let us know what you find.

Neither. It's a 22x8 and I have a 22x10 that I can throw on if I would like. Today was an almost unsuccessful day. I only had to call Tom once today and he didn't pick up so I never even talked to him today. But I was able to solve the problem. I will have pics and a story of how well the build is going.

Engine off has a range of over 100 feet. Engine on was 10 feet. I aways use an FM reciever for the setup, I think its the smartest way to go. Pcm wil not show a smaller problem until its to late.
Im not sure about were it could be coming from Yet, amd you know how it is at the field eveyone has an opinion and you can't really think straight. once I get the new hall effect sensor I will be able to go to another field that I frequent that is 10 times less conjested and slowly trobleshoot everything.

Thanks for the suggestions tom, I will let everyone know how it goes.

Something in the ignition is doing it. Rattling metal to metal would not account for that gigantic loss. Probably either a frayed plug wire or something inside is arcing. It should be easy to find if it's that messed up.

I have made some progress. I was able to get the landing gear mounted all the surfaces test fitted. I have the wheels on and a wheel pant on. I test fit the elevator servos so I have that cut out. And I was able to get the hatch to fit and center the cowl.
