    Jimmy,
Yea- it's true. Weighed it again on a large postal scale. 16 3/4 pounds. The brison 3.2 is not a really heavy engine (3.25 lbs without muffler). I would sure like to see the Hangar 9 prototype that came out at 14 lbs. (or even 15)- I don't believe it!!!
Does anyone on this thread have one of these with a DA or ZDZ 50 and if so how much does yours weigh?

    Erik

    Eric,

I am thinking about getting carbon fiber landing gear and tail wail assemble.

Does anybody know who sells carbon gear for THIS plane??

The optimal weight that I want is 15 and a 1/2 pounds or lighter..

Ohh does anybody sell a 3"carbon fiber spinner???

    Thanks
    Jim

Mine with the DA50, aluminum spinner and 22X10 Mejzlik prop weighs 16lbs 2oz.
You folks that have 'em flying, what are you using for elevator low rates?
Why the switch from inches to degrees is beyond me.
Also, where are your cg's ending up at since we have a 1 1/8 inch range. Mine is 6 1/4 without lead.

    Dave,
I am using the prescribed low rates from the manual. They seem to be sufficient for non-3d. The thinking behind the degrees is that 45 degrees is 45 degrees regardless of where you measure.

My CG is at 6 1/2 and I think it's feeling a little too tail heavy. Mine snapped a couple of times out of some slow maneuvers- kinda scary. I'll know for sure after some more flying time.

I was concerned with the LOW rates not high. I use the "all you can get" method for 3D. My question was with the low rates, manual states 14 degrees and I no way to measure that. I will just "eyeball it" using past cap experience.

If you download that page from the Web site, it will be in inches!

Don't know why they published it in degrees....

    Thanks Jerry, I got it.

I see they lowered the price, I feel much better paying $110 more for mine

Please weigh that landing gear. Tell me how much it weighs.

We will compare it to the carbon gear.

I just picked up a CG main landing gear from GraphTech - I'm planning on putting it on tonight - I'll weigh it before I do!

I assembled one for a customer last fall. Easily one of the highest quality ARFs I've ever seen - went together perfectly.

Weighed 15 lbs 2 oz with a Moki 2.1 and Bisson muffler.

Got to fly mine this morning, cool plane/engine combo!

First lets remove the term"snappy cap" as this thing can be slowed way, way down and only drops its nose when stalling. Other than having too much down thrust and being a little nose heavy the plane is great so far.

I got four flights on it and was giving' her hell on the last one. Upright or inverted flatspins look like a dog chasing it's tail on fast forward. Knife edge spins very fast also, but I was having trouble getting it to start. Just not familiar yet I guess. The rudder is very powerful but I had an extra HS5945 and used that.

Knife edge loops are non issue but there is a fair amount of pitch. One things for sure, even though the ailerons are not double beveled max throw is almost too much. Taxing around the plane feels like it wants go over on its nose but my field is not the smoothest place to fly.

The DA50 pulls this thing around very well. Looking forward to flying more this weekend and get a few things ironed out. Also,
I'm using the Bisson muffler and cut 1/4'' off each tube and gained 300 rpm.

I just got my 80" H9 CAP232 ready to fly. It has a FOX 3.2 up front(not my choosing, it came with the plane, I bought it used). 9204 servo's on the elevator and rudder and 645mg's on the wings. I just weighed it and it came in at about 16.4lbs. I could lighten it a little by going to lighter batteries. I plan on flying it in the m
