Man, what a night. After making several adjustments to my car I decided to go out and test the waters. It turned out Stiffening the front suspenion made a world of a difference in my ability to whip the car around. I was getting very confident, and unlike the first night I went out drifing, "Playing it safe" tonight I foudn a very Happy medium in which I was drifintg on the edge, making some very close passes with the parking lot curbs and what not. There are two things I wish I did tonight and 1) was have my camera to record, 2) have a set of tools to fix the problem. (never leave home without either) Anyway, After driving corners at a low safe speed I decided to make some high speed passes which are very nice and long drifts, and if done properly could make one huge consecutive drif around one of the islands in the parking lot. After circling one parking lot island in a continuous drift I decided to pull a figure 8 and go aroud the next island in the parking lot. There is about 50-100 feet between islands which allows you to setup a nice speed to pull a pretty long drift. I was standing about 50 feet from the car in between street lights so lighting was somewhat dim (mistake number 1) I thought I was just going to be able to clear the island until I noticed I wasn't. Once I realized this, I did the first thing anyone would do ... BRAKE! Only it was too late and speed was too great, SLAM! The hit was hard, I've never heard my car hit so hard, it sent a shiver up my spine. When I slowly turned around the car and started to limp towards me I noticed it was pulling hard to the right. I knew 1 of two thing, the body was behind the wheel (this has happened before because my drift tires are kinda of big, I need to cut the fender a little more) OR even worse, a snap in a tie rod or something (this happened to me once In real life) To be 100% honest, at this point I wasn't really mad. I was actually, in a weird sort of way happy~~ or feeling proud, maybe that's a better word. I was proud of the fact that My first mistake --serious crash wasn't because I was just being too careless, I feel that I was living on the edge at that moment and I was in utopia watching my car make some very pretty drfits around the island knowing that I was behind the control. So I was somewhat proud of my performance tonight. And had already mentally prepared myself to wake up early, get to the LHS and buy the $6 piece that had broken ~ providing they had it in stock. After further inspection of the Car, this is what I found: Turns out, the steering linkage just popped out, PHEW! 2 Second fix The only bad thing is I didn't have any pliers tonight to fix it while I was at the parking lot! Sorry for the long read (If you even read it all
