Well it looks like I am going to jump in here with you guys. My Yak is an old one but I think it is going to be a good one. I found this guy hanging in the rafters in a guys shop in Nashville. The tail was put together and that was it. I had to straigten out a few things that were not right but I think I am just about there. The main problem was getting all of the dirt dobber nest cleaned out of the fuse and wings. Well from what I can tell it looks like I am fixin to Yak. I always heard that once you go Yak you never go back. If everything goes well hopefully she will maiden this weekend.
I do have one question for all you guys that have had one of these EF Yaks. It looks like the CG is going to be at about 2.25" behind the wing tub, is this going to be okay?

I am not exactly sure where mine is now, but it is very near the recommended CG location and I think that is much farther forward than yours... I have all of my batts up on the motor box, plus a couple oz of lead attached to the stand offs to get the proper CG...

Yeoow Rush, 2 1/4 behind the wing tube? I read every page of the original EF thread and only remember folks saying that they were doing the balance on the little stripe of color, or in that area. Most aircraft designers design the plane to fly on the wing tube which is the center of the pitch/yaw axis. Some guys like to go behind the wing tube for their style of flying, and I have heard of 1 inch or even 1 1/2 inch. Maybe if you have an old spinner to throw on just for maiden kicks? Or strap some removable lead up front? Lots of things can happen on a maiden and the last thing you want is to be chasing the stick all around to keep it flying. IMHO Good luck.
BTW nice plane!!

Here's 3 pictures of my 100cc AW Yak. 3W 106CS on cans with a Engel SuperSilence 26x12 3-blade, 5985 on ailerons, 5955 on elevators and rudder. Emocotec Mini 5 and Fromeco 2400 Peerless for power. Flies great!
Edit: Forgot to mention. I have a SD-Models 33% Yak on it's way too. 3W 80Xi with canister, TBM 2600 batteries, Emocotec Mini 5, and the same servo setup as my AW Yak. Plus original SD-model carbon landing gear (looks great by the way!), SD-Model wingbags, carbon wingtube and stabtube. It should be here this weekend

Rush, mine balances at 7 3/4" from leading edge at the wing root. At that balance point, it flies absolutely nuetral. Good luck with the maiden. And you're right, once you Yak, there's no going back.

Mine's about 7 1/4 - 7 1/2. Flies great, drops very slowly inverted.

Thanks for the help guys. I will move my batts to the motor box. I also put a 24oz fuel tank on it for kicks and I can t see buring that amount of fuel before landing.
