Hey guys, thought I would start a discussion thread for the Raptor 50 Titan.

I am about 50% through my build and thanks to the review here by BarracudaHockey it's going quite smooth. That review is very helpful.

Just waiting on my radio to arrive and then I can start on the electronics.

I figured this would be a good place to discuss tips, tricks, upgrades and issues.

Can't wait to get this bird in the air.

Hi guys,
I just built mine a couple of months ago.
I bought Rays Authoritive DVD series and posted questions here as needed.
I enjoyed the build, it took me back to my meccano sets when I was growing up.

The Titan flies nice, I just changed my 600mm carbon blades to 620mm carbon SAB blades.
I am at the stage of learning how to auto, and Barracuda said these blades are good for autos.
I have fitted an OS 50 Hyper, Y401 Gyro with the digital servo for it, can't remember the number of hand, an onboard tacho and voltspy for the battery.
It took me about 10 days to put together, but this was my first build so I know it could be built a lot quicker.

I ran the engine in on the bench so I could go straight to my final pitch settings rather than messing about every time the engine settled in a little. Even so, I am still tweeking. Bit more required now I have changed blades.

Enjoy the build,

While your waiting on the radio, go ahead and beef up the glow plug extension if you haven't already. The Thunder Tiger extension doesnt last very long before it falls apart. What i have done that has lasted me through 12 gallons of fuel and a few crashes, is to take the thundertiger extension and cut the existiing wire off about half an inch behind the dummy plug. Then take some 14 or 12 ga. wire and solder it to the end of the dummy plug. Put some heatshrink over it and then solder an aligator clip to the other end. Like i said, mine has lasted me a very long time, and its something you can play with while your waiting.

I bought the OS extension so I think I am all set.

NHP 620's are my favorite all around blades for the titan, I also like the Radix 600's.

Take it easy on the metal upgrades, the weight adds up and unless you are really pushing her the benefits are limited.

I bought some 600mm MAHBlades for mine.

I am flying an MX450 now and love it, been tossing that baby around for a few months.

I just got done with the mechanical build of my Titan, putting my RX, RX battery, gyro/servo on tomorrow then just waiting on my 9252's to arrive. I have the OS 50 SX-H Hyper engine with the stock muffler. I only made three upgrades to my Titan, 620mm blades (Mavrikks until I progress to harder flying then NHP 620's), the Mavrikk head button, and the PV0499 one-piece tail rotor hub (highly recommended, it only takes one tail blade flying by your head at the speed of light to change over, so protect yourself and do it now). I agree with TEX, BarracudaHockey's review was a big help with my build. I am also thankful that as soon as my build is complete I will be driving to his field and he will be going over it personally to make sure she is right. And I'll say this about Andy, before I first met him he preached to congregation that is us newbie pilots to find an experienced pilot to go over your bird and help with your first flights. I have driven 4 hours (there and back) twice to meet with him and it was worth every penny of gas I spent. So for the other new guys on this forum, do it.

This is my second heli, my first was a R30v1 which I had upgraded the head and tail to the v2 standards. I crashed that, kinda hard, but not terrible. Nevertheless, I decided to salvage, sell what I could, scrap the crap and bought the Titan. I have heard nothing but good things about the Titan so I cant wait to get her up in the air. I am still really new to flying helis, I had tail in hover down, was getting fairly comfortable with nose in and was doing some figure 8's and loops. Can't wait to see how this thing performs compared to the 30.

Where are you guys going to put your rudder servo? I have heard more the one person say the oil in the exhaust has killed more than one servo and they are really vunerable in a crash. I am leaning on putting mine under the canopy.

I'll too, watch this thread and tell you guys are she flies as soon as I get her up, hopefully only another week or so.

Oh and heliproz sells a glow plug extension with a booted alligator clip....here is the part number: MVPVA115

I'm going to put my servo on the tail. Just pull apart the servo case and add a little RTV and your set.

I guess that is going to be new for me here...fuel oil.
