A dead stick mishap with a new Yak and I'd thought I'd post a few photos incase some one else needs to do a repare or two. This is Barry's Yak and I think it turned out ok.

I pulled as much as I thought I could get away with. I was able to salvage the engine box sides to keep the thrust angles where they are supposed to be, but I had to remove the top and bottom engine box pieces along with the firewall.

I was able to piece the broken engine box pieces together and make new ones. One thing I realy liked about this plane, is that it was not easy to remove any of the pieces that I needed to remove. It was glued together very well. They also use spruce try stock to re-enforce the engine box corners instead of balsa. That makes it much stronger.

I cut a plywood doubler to re-enforce the engine box side where it was broken, along with replacing the spruce try stock.

Finished motor box. I also had to replace some of the wing saddle sheeting where the wing sits inside the fuse. I thought this would be tough to do, but once I got started, it was not that bad. I would suggest using some thin CA on the backside of this area during assembly.

Anyone know if the MVVS Isolation mount will fit the front bulkhead? its mountings are 120mm x 80mm with the engine set on the center line, if someone could measure from the marked c/c line on the bulkhead too the outside edge left, right, up and down this would be an great help.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Was wondering how you cut the nice slots in the motor box top and bottom. Scroll saw or by hand? Nice job, by the way.

Thanks SitNFly,
I used my hobby knife with a new blade to cut the rectangular slots that the firewall sets into. I also have a scrole saw and a band saw that I used on the other areas.

Mike,
Not sure on that mount, Reza could probably tell you.
