Yes!
Not with the Tower fuel...it was clean, but with some other stuff I had in small cans...(I had some Missle Mist and Cox "red can" )

One thing I wonder about though...is the filter removing oil from the mixture, or are equal parts of the blend being absorbed by the filter and the over-all percentages are un-changed?

The trash I always find in the filter screens on the engines is lint from a fiber filter at the place where the fuel was mixed.

Good point...
I use a filtered clunk in my fuel jug, and one on the filler line right at the end that plugs into the airplanes fill line, so it's always filtered through metal screens twice before entering the airplane's tank.

Some of that really fine "hair" from a fiberous filter can still get past the metal screen(s) on occasion though, aye?
I very rarely however have a problem with clogging of the NVA.

Any concern about possible explosion when open really old can of fuel? I read somewhere that this happened to one of AMA members about 10 years ago. It was a metal can.

That was mentioned somewhere in this thread...don't recall which page...but I think it was Diesel fuel and it somehow had become unstable? Take a look in the previous pages...

That is exactly what the discussion of rain, fog, and race cars is about. To show what humidity is, how moisture is differant than water,

You are saying that the moisture in rain and fog is different than water. On what planet?
Tell me with your vast knowledge what the moisture in water is made out of.

Big Bopper

Moisture in air is a gas, water is a liquid. Or to be more specific the moisture as used in the humidity of the air is a gas, that is why it is invisible, just as superheated steam is invisible. Of course if you are refering to moisture in fog and rain, then it is a liquid.

Okay, let me ask about using it as weed killer.

Doesn't it leave oil stains, if you pour it on weeds that are in cracks in the sidewalk, for example?

What about in the middle of your lawn? Or flower beds? Wouldn't it end up leaving a big dead spot?

isn't that what you want dead spots?

You would have dead spots for a long time. At least with commercial weed killer it grows back.

Tomorrow, Friday the 29th, I will be testing this old glow fuel and will video tape it as it happens.

Back to the original intent of this thread, it is to see if very old glow fuel can be used to run a glow engine. If the engine runs, the question has been answered with a "yes" and if the engine doesn't run, the answer is "no".

....it will run with the glow heater connected, it's not really good for the engine IMO.

If the oil is not seperated it should run. Power and transition? Not sure.

Okay, it was 100°F but I did the tests anyway.

Since I have a radial engine all set up on my test stand and did not want to dismount it I just used an airplane with the engine already in it. It is a Magnum 40 XLS that had a few break-in tanks run so far. I did not want to contaminate the fuel tank inside the model just in case the old fuel was nasty stuff so I attached an external fuel tank.
