Go up to a 3600 or 3800 it is an extremely noticable improvement. I have had no problem out of the stock motor but I did fry my ESC so I up graded to the rooster crawler....Also another cheap upgrade is to weight the front wheels. However if your running stock wheels and tires I wouldnt rec. dismantling them it would be more trouble than its worth. Some of the guys I know have injected antifreeze into the stock front tires and it actually worked well. However the new thing is bicycle tire slim it didn't leak like the antifreeze did (over time). I have done alot more to my King since the last I have posted I'll try to get some updated ones soon.....

Hey guys, I'm thinkin about getting a wheely king, and convert it to a crawler.

based on what i've been reading, I made a list of stuff i'll need to make one. Heres what i've come up with, tell me if i did anything wrong here:

will that alluminum tube fit over the threaded rod? That's gonna be for this part

also, are there any issues here?
thanks!

the tubing should fit. One thing, you can save a bunch of money by just going with one set of t-maxx driveshafts instead of 2 sets of savage shafts. Take out both savage shaft sets and instead get this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVPROFIL=++&FVSEARCH=4951x Then use the stock output shafts from the tranny and axle with the stock black u joints instead of the silver ones that came with the shafts, cut 25mm of each outer shaft and 22mm off each inner shaft, and you will be set, plus you save $26.29!!!

I guess the antifreeze/tireslime would explain this: 80 degree wall . Was wondering how he did that.

maybe you could use some brake line, cut it to the length of the diff, and fill it with jb weld, push the axles in, pull them out, and let dry.. if ya understand what im saying i think it would work...

you can also use the lockers from the ax10 they are a direct bolt in but they are a bit more pricey about 10 each

the brake line thing is revursable... you pull the axles out of the jb and wait to dry... insert and go..

I finally started working on the WK again this weekend. This is my 4th servo mount design and the first one I'm truly happy with. This is just a rough copy, the next copy will have a minor modification to it which will allow it to be used on both the front and rear axles. The servo will be clamped down by a plate that goes overtop of it and bolts to the bottom plate so there is no chance of breaking servo ears (I break those alot). There is room on the axle for a split 6 or 8 cell 2/3A pack or a small lipo right on top of the servo if wanted. Now I need to make some link mounts I can live with.

This was my 1st design, made with a template I found on RCC. It works for some people but it would contact my tires during full steering. Never try to make any RC parts out of 3/16" steel when 1/8" aluminum is more than adequate.

This was my second mount that I don't have any pics of besides this CAD view. It broke servo ears twice before I scrapped it.

This was my 3rd design that I don't have any pics of besides this CAD view. I tried mimicking the second design but bringing the servo as close to the axle as possible. It was obviously too weak and scrapped after the first run.
