Can the hy5020e cccv 50 volt 20 amp power supply from tanicpacks be powered by a dc to ac inverter? (portawattz 1750)

Just received the power supply and tried it. The answer is yes, but you must set all knobs to minimum (all the way to the left) before you turn it on connected to the inverter or else you will trip the overload sensor in the inverter. There must be some huge capacitors inside that get charged up when the on/off button is pushed. Off to the field now.

Update for those who are interested: Last weekend the hy5020e made a couple of loud popping noises and then died while running from the inverter. Previously I had a bit a trouble getting it to turn on from the inverter. The inverter kept sensing overload even when the knobs were set to min. Back at home that evening the PS ran fine from home AC after the popping. I guess a circuit breaker was kicking in to protect itself from the inverter which must have been putting out some unhealthy power. I tried the PS from another smaller inverter I had which it then worked just fine and didn't have any further trouble turning on even with the knobs set from the last charge. My guess is either my large inverter just went kaput (it was 8 years old) or the PS just doesn't like the square waveform. So I've ordered a 1500w true sine wave inverter to use which says it equals or surpasses the quality of home AC. I still like the versatility of this power supply. It will charge just about anything.

What happens if you lose main during charge process?
Discharging battery on charge into hy5020e may be fatal to her...
Suggestion?

Diode, adapt car dual battery isolator, use one leg, use wattmeter to adjust for volt drop.
