Randy: yes you always fly into the wind and up wind of your location, when our pilots at the rallys and at thier own field they almost always fly in large circle to gain altitude and upon reaching altitude they throttle back just before release of jumper this makes for a more stable air and a good flat release, The plane is always flying into the wind on release.
