if you remember, my plane is the PA (ARF) GeeBee Y, it's a bit over 15 pounds with the MVVS 35cc gasser, power and speed is OK with this setup..

my 35 has the inverted side muffler (# BCM 215 INV),,, with the 3W 20x8 (peaked RPM was a little over 7000), tuned for flight RPM of 6600, at 6600 I thought it may have been a little over propped,, so I tried a 3W 19x8 (peak RPM was almost 7700) tuned for flight is 7330,,

I feel the motor pulled (all-around) better with the larger 3W 20x8,, it pulled off the ground better and had more vertical with the 20x8 too,,

even tho I was happier with the larger prop, 6600 RPMs sounds a little low, can I get a comment rather you feel I should be revving this motor a bit higher than 6600 or not ??

the Menz and NX 20x8 props may be a little thinner than the 3W 20x8, they may get me a couple hundred RPMs more

thanks
Jim

Use the larger prop, and tune the engine just 100 rpm off peak, or even less. Just be sure the engine is on the edge of going off peak on the rich side. At 7000 rpm, the engine is not overpropped. It will even handle 22x8 very well, though I distrust the muffler. There are better exhaust systems. Look at two stroke motorcycles. Seen a side muffler lately?

1) so if I get a peak RPM of 7000 you want me to tune it at 6900 for flight ??

2) I would be happy to buy a "in cowl muffler" that will give a little more power, what muffler do you suggest ??

well I put a few more flights on her and I leaned her out a bit, I got a power boost and it did not over heat,, but she still must be braking in because when I checked the peak RPM I was getting 7370 so I can lean it out even more the next time I fly,, I think 7100 will be quite good with the 3W 20x8,,,

I have to say I am quite surprised how well this little motor pulls around that 15 pound plane !! she doesn't snap or pull like a 3D plane should but it pulls better than one would think..
