they did make a twin Bonanza.
I prefer the looks of the single bonanaza though

Hey guys, just got back from LA and Vegas yesterday about 1am central time. Boy what a vacation. Really needed it. Drove all the way, put over 3900 miles on out XL-7. Boy am sure glad its equiped with a Navigator. Got married !! Yeah Baby....hehe..well enough of my vacation. I will start again on the build probably Thursday. I will keep everyone posted. Sad to say but I thing I will have to butcher the cowl on both sides as well for my 160 twin. I got the spacers already to mount the engine to the firewall or away from the firewall better yet. If all goes well, and the engine has enough power for this bird, then I will fly it without the cowl first. That way if I need to go to a bigger engine, the cowl wont go thru another butchering. will keep all informed. cheers.

Nice, but we need a Cherokee 140 or 180. Simple (and cheaper) fixed gear, flying stab, fat hersey bar wing, beautiful airplane almost never done before.

I soloed full scale in a PA140. I would love to have a giant scale of this type.

Got my engine spacers from Evolution engines. Actually from the guys at the RC Store Sugarland Texas near me. Quick service hehe...The spacers are perfect for the engine and appear to be the perfect space moving the engine forward. A very slight cut was made on the nose retract extension for the throttle lever to move and also for the choke in front of the engine to sit perfectly. I ran out of 10-32mm socket screws so was unable to mount the engine yet. Bummer. Back to Ace Bolt and screw tomorrow. I had to remove the valve covers and even like that the cowl will not fit over the engine so YES it will have to be cut only when and if it pulls the plane. Stay tuned, almost done..

ok here is how it looks with the motor mounted. Not too shabby. will install the throttle servo next. Had to make a very little 1/2" hole below the throttle arm to allow it to move freely, also made a very small shave right below the choke spring. Other than that, mounted easily. Eyeballing it, "IF" it does fly the plane, both heads will protrude from the cowl but wont look too bad. will run pipe extensions down the sides, maybe heat tubing or something like that. NO Flex pipes needed here.

engine looks like a good fit.I think the evo 32 will fit with a little mod to the cowl

installed tank today, remote fueler, fuel lines, throttle servo, throttle cable. slow process, but getting there. Kingtight, I would have to say mmm yes it might fit, with cylinder being very visible out the side, but you would have to run the exhaust stacks down thru the nose gear housing, cut them short and run flex extensions around the nose strut...sounds like a pain, then again you have to measure the space between the exit port on the engine and gear housing to see if you have enough clearance to even install the muffler...muffler is about an inch thick and Im being very conservative saying it.

Our clubs best pilot and I flew the Bonanza tonight after I shed a little weight.

I am going to try the suggestion in post 5 here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6894283/anchors_6894283/mpage_1/key_bonanza/anchor/tm.htm#6894283

Even with the Moki 1.8 it takes forever to lift off the runway. You get to full takeoff speed, gradually pull back all the way on the elevator, and after 400 feet, pray. Then it shoots upward and you release the elevator as fast as you can to not stall it, up and down to find a safe rate of climb and your off.

I thought shedding some weight may help but no.

I spaced the front retract down and put some smaller wheels on the mains. I will see if that helps in the next few days and report back.

well now IM REALLY concerned on mine. YIPES!!! whats the total dry weight now Molyhotdog? I was also missing some nose gear stuff but was quick in getting it. Andrew has like the nicest secretary working for him. wow dont know what the hold up was on your missing parts. Hope you got them already. Take a video if you can of your flight. Would love to see one. I will install the windows on mine today and hopefully in a couple of days have the engine broken in. Got a Magnum 180 BIGBOY 4-cycle on the ready to swap out. Then again Im still looking for a good Saito 220 single cylinder 4-cycle also JUST in case hehehehe...

Total weight is around 18.75 pounds. I'm thinking/hoping the takeoff problem is more of an angle of attack when on the gear issue (nose pointing downward) than lack of power issue.

It seems to have enough speed but needs high rate full elevator to lift off and takes forever. I am shaking very badly after the almost crash after every liftoff.

The plane flies nice and floats better than I figured it would given the weight. I added four wheel collars (one around each screw) as spacers between the nose wheel retract and its mount and put one size smaller mains on it. If I can get the takeoff issue fixed I think I will be much happier.

As for a video I have no equipment to take one. But everybody loves to see it in the air.

As for the missing landing gear door hardware I still haven't received it and feel I've called enough asking for it.

Bonanza report. Flew the heck out of it Thursday and some Friday.

I'd space your front nose wheel retract down 3/8 to a 1/2 inch. I redid it better ( replaced the wheel collars ) after fiding out the spacing basicly fixes the problem. I glued and screwed some about 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 x 5/16 plywood shaped to fit between the retract and its mount along with the smaller mains. If you want to keep your main wheels I'd go more than 5/16 on the plywood.

It is now possible to take the plane off smoothly and gradually in a reasonable amount of runway. I believe a slightly smaller motor would fly the plane now. A 100% improvement. It's a little tougher to land because you somewhat have to point the plane upwards to land on the mains but it can be done without to much problem. I don't know if changing the main wing incidence would cause other problems but it may be a solution for future planes being built.

One other thing about taking off this plane is that it seems to want to pull to the left very badly.

I've eliminated the nose cable system, moved the 330 ounce digital nose wheel servo into the retract area (making the retract inoperable) and am using dual 4 inch 4-40 rods and ball links from the servo to the nose wheel. I switched to a different nose wheel to eliminate the 1/8 play between the supplied nose wheel and its shaft.

I have the nose wheel trimmed way right to get enough travel right when taking off.

The takeoff procedure is about 1/2 left on the stick to make the plane go straight, pickup speed and gradually move the stick to the right, then full right at speed so the nose wheel is at a 45 degree angle to the plane upon liftoff, and it is still pulling left.

I've made sure the mains are straight and free but have yet to overcome this tendency.

I ran the wing into a flight station yesterday (crushed the wing) as I wasn't totally focused on my procedure for that flight. Plus the wind was different making me takeoff the opposite direction from before so when the plane went left it was toward an open field so I had room.

I'm guessing some right thrust in the motor to fix this issue, any other suggestions would be great. Thanks

I can say that I am so sick of fighting (redoing) this plane it makes me want to puke !!!!!!!!!

wow, sorry to hear Molyhotdog. I had thought about changing the wing incedence already from your first reports of having trouble taking off. I had also thought about changing the pull pull cables on the nose. I have flown jets in this configuration and have never had an issue. I will try it as it is for the sake of saying I tried. Im just about ready for mine to see air. Im finishing puting the windows today and testing my retracts for leaks. I will take pics of the setups and post later. But its to guys as yourself and myself that others will not have to go thru all the BS on new planes out on the market. I surely hope you gets yours fixed. So much effort has been put into your project for you to hang up your gloves on it. dont let it be for nothing. Thanks for all your input.
