Installation looks very neat. Good job. Sorry to hear the maiden did not go as planned. Better to have issues on the ground and not in the air. Finally got my Saito 270 twin. Its the big head 270 and IT IS HUGE !!!!!! I should not need any added weight with this thing in the nose but I will have to cut the cowl on both sides. Dont matter as long as I have the power and sound to match LOL !! Still recovering from my PRK done on my right eye. Cant see as well yet so taking it easy for now. Let us know how your maiden goes and take video if possible. Good thinking on the heat exit out the tail. Looks nice.

Test flew my Bonanza today. I powered my Bonanza with a Saito 1.80 swinging a MAS 16X8 three bladed prop. Total weight is 18.75 lbs which includes 1.25 lbs of nose weight. The retracts used are the new Gen III version, air up air down. With 10 degrees of flap deployed, take off roll was about 150 - 200 ft. Needed 5 clicks of up trim then flew hands off. After about 5 mins of flying time the engine quit. I was on a downwind pattern to the runway so I deployed half flap and made a long approch to a flare and touchdown. The airplane handles great, the 1.80 is more than enough power. Very solid in flight, I didnt do much more than fly racetrack patterns for the first flight but it felt good. I didnt have a camera, so no pics. This is a keeper....

Congrats B Shipp, SLONLOW, and molyhotdog...
that is the kind of plane you dream of when you
first contemplate this hobby. I remember looking at
the Byron Original model ads in MAN back in the
day when I was shopping for my trainer and remember
their Baron. Now a V-Tail??? Thank god for electronic mixing, huh?

NICE MOBILE HANGAR RIG THERE MOLY!

I was wondering if the vinyl covered wing and surfaces
come out any lighter? That's probably a question better
suited for KMP. I'm guessing that everyone opted for the
Kevlar/Fiberglass option which BTW, looks INCREDIBLE!

B Shipp, Thanks for the info Buddy. Glad you flew yours ok. I already opted for the 180 myself. I was considering the 220 thus having to avoid dead weight but if you say you only added about 18oz then thats ok i can live with that. Will keep you guys posted. Video anyone get them in PLEASE !!! HEHEHEHE

Hi B Shipp

Thanks to your KMP Bonanza entries in the forum . I'm thinking since a couple of month to get one of these KMP planes - the V35 is my model Unfortunately do I face big troubles to have one of these modles shipped to Switzerland where I live. Therefore am I asking you kindly, whether you fly the full composite version? KMP Europe importer - which most of 'em do not ship intp Switzerland for reach reasons ever - are telling me, that the full composite wing is too heavy and therefore they are not importing this version .

I'm actually planning to install an Saito FG36 gas engine into the V35 version. Is the wing loading from your point of view on the safe side, or are you getting scared at each take-off or slow landing approach? At our flying club we only have a gras strip approx 300ft long

Thank you very much in advance for replying to my post. Best regards from sunny Switzerland

Gudness Gracious!!! Thats right??? B Shipp is yours the Full Composite like Mine? Or is yours the built up balsa wing type?? I cannot get mine to balance with the 180. I am having to put over 2 lbs of dead weight vs. how you got yours with less, THEREFORE I think you have the balsa built up wing. Am I correct?? Never thought of that, Thanks MirageIIIRS.

Mirage, not sure why you cant get the composite version shipped to you. The weight differance betwwen the wood version and composite version packaged in the shipping box isnt much different. I fly off of grass also. Although this plane tends to get heavy, I think you could get to the mid 20# and still fly ok. I think it handles well.

Slow, I have the full composite version. My balance point may be a little behind the published balance point, but not by more that 1/4''. Depends how you hold your fingers .

B Shipp then I am totally stumped!! Dont know why mine needs more nose weight. Are you using AA type receiver batteries or the Sub C type? And I imagine they are up near the engine. I was using the standard AA type, twin packs. Oh well. I'm getting my Saito 220 GK this week. YEAH BABY! Plenty of power, looks great, and weight wont be an issue. It will fly at half throttle or less hehehehehe Get us some pics of your or a video if possible B Shipp. Meanwhile I started working on a JHH BAe Hawk I had put away sometime. With an OS .91/Ramtec..aaaahhhh speed.......

I still cant see out of my right eye due to my PRK done. But by the time I finish my V35 I should be ready for some stick time.

Mine was extremely sensitive to movement of the balance point as far as the amount of lead needed. If I moved mine 1/4 inch I could remove a fair amount of lead. I just didn't want to chance it being tail heavy. The weight doesn't seem to hurt it once in the air. Although I haven't flown mine with less weight to compare. It actually floats when landing much more than I expected (as long as the motor is running). The weight is however very hard on the front nose strut. Mine bent a few times and finally cracked so I built a new one on my lathe out of steel.

I'll just take it easy on the throttle...pics soon.

Hello, I have been flying the bonanza for the past three weeks
Here are informations that might be useful for somebody who is willing to buy this aircraft

The engine i use is an OS120 AX (two stroke) with the original muffler, everything is enclosed in the cowl , i had to do some modifications for that solution if you want the pictures i'll post them.
I am flying with the composite wings and to achieve the correct CG 430grams of lead were added at the front.
I am using the kmp retracts, they were all leaking including the valve that comes with them . look is nice but quality wise...
It toolk me two hours of work to achieve the modifications for the engine to fit properly inside and to strengthen the front.
The aircraft is flying very nicely and is easy to land also i found her a bit nose heavy , she is very stable in the air and look remarcably scale
The trap doors are glued to the struts with standard silicone, it works 100 % and had a bit of flex
The amount of up and down for elevator and ailerons had to be reduced by 50 % otherwise it is way to sensitive

Got it mounted, balanced and ready to go. Dont know if I will fly this weekend since AGAIN MY FR*(())!!!N Air Filler Valve is LEAKING AGAIN !!!!!!!. This thing is COMPLETELY WORTHLESS. Although its a new one that Andrew sent me they are really really really cheap !!!. I fill up the system and as soon as I remove the little filler port from the outside, all the air leaks out. What is it with this thing????I will have to order one from somewhere. DARN !!!! Oh well no sense in crying. Here are some pics of the engine. Enjoy.
