Hey, guys! I've been "out of commission" for about a year and a half now because we had a baby, and as you dads know, this parenting thing is HARD!! Anyway, with everything going on (this is our first) the savvy was set aside to patiently wait for it's turn. Well, I got it out yesterday, filled him up with 1.5 year old nitro, started yanking the pullstart, and after about 5 or 6 pulls....... the sweet smell of burning nitro!! I was actually surprised it was that easy, since the truck sat for so long, but I think good after run habits did the trick. (This also answers the question of nitro shelf life).

Okay, that's all. No complaints, problems, whining, or questions. Just wanted to say I'm glad to be back, and I'll never wait a year and a half again!!!

Welcome back to the forums! Honestly, dump the fuel and get yourself a fresh gallon of fuel.

If the fuel was stored in a dry dark place then it should be fine, if it wasnt it wouldnt have started up so easily.

I hear ya.... we had our second baby last august... and I bought my Savage in late sept... duh... not much use when it was brand new... but now we get out when we can. Parenting is a tough and rewarding job isn't it!

As for the fuel, the three tanks I ran the other day were actually the end of a gallon, plus I have another unopened gallon (Trinity Monster Horsepower), so there's no way I'm throwing it out!! It was in what used to be our spare room (now it's the kid's room), and the blinds are almost always closed, so the bottle hasn't seen much sunlight since I bought it.

As for parenting, the rewards are GREAT!! This kid teaches me as much as I teach him!! And he even likes trying to chase the truck!

sounds like you guys have fun parenting. haha im not anywhere near that yet. im only 14 got a ways to go. I'm gettin a savy x ss and turnin it into a project beast. School is busy so i have trouble sometimes finding some spare time. I usually do though with my maxx.

CONGRATS ON YA KIDS. AND ON STARTIN THE SAVY. nothing like the fresh brew of nitro in the morning to wake up the senses. I've bin going through withdrawl since its bin like 3-4 months since ive started my truck since its busted. I NEED TO SMELL THE FRESH BURNING SENSATION OF NITRO. when i do im gonna be like aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Have fun with your savy and your kid. Consider buying your kid a truck and teaching him about rc's when hes older. Ive seen the vid a guy has a son whos 5 and he has his own savy. The dad tunes it and stuff while the son and him drive around.
