Hey man, i don't think there's anything wrong with what your doing. I just think that tamiya needs to make their cars a little higher quality. Since they are pretty much the only ones who make scale cars, i don't blame you for buying their products.

um, no thank's, i'm already eating some.

But i'm not saying that tamiya's plastic molding isn't bad, i am saying just that. If any of you are airplane guys, it's like the difference between a built up balsa trainer, and a fully molded slope ship. Sure they both fly, but one is just a little higher in quality. Take for exapmle the difference between any tamiya 2wd buggy and a b4. Enough said.

The B4 is a really bad example, since most of it is based on previous Tamiya engineering from 10 years ago.

Yup, this car was introduced by Tamiya in 1992.
Complete with FRP chassis, slipper clutch, CVDs and aluminum shocks.

j.m. - why are you bashing on Tamiya? Do you own one?

What is a better choice than Tamiya then? Please elebrate for all of use so we stop wasting our money on "junk".

Alright boyz, this is getting off-topics.. if j.m. is interested in learning more about Tamiya, maybe we can take it to a new thread or whatever..

But anyway, a quick response before I stop.. I think your example of B4 is a valid one.. but I think using that and saying Tamiya in general makes low quality RC just doesn't make much sense. You can say, "Tamiya doesn't make a race ready 2WD vehicle"..

I mean, you take a look at the their TRF-series of cars (if you are into race cars, seems that you do..) For touring cars, they started to win world level championships starting w/ the TRF414, then 415, then 416.. then w/ the 4WD buggy, they came out w/ the TRF501X which is also doing well at the world level competition.

Who knows when they will do a TRF 2WD truck/buggy, but don't be surprised that Tamiya does that in the near future.

Then on the other hand of the spectrum, they make very high quality vehicles that's not meant to be race. But those does not interest you so I won't bore you here. They also make a lot of entry levels kits to bring people into the hobby. I think that makes them pretty successful. (I think AE got bought out by the Taiwanese company Thunder Tiger.. I don't think we will see that happening w/ Tamiya..)

Yeah, I got more organe paint for it ready to go.. just gonna take out some of the mistake I made and re-spray the cab.. and this time, instead of try to paint the window edge free handed using brush, I will use the Sharpie pen... hopefully, take care of that at once!!

The problem is so many projects.. I just got a set of new chassis from Tamiya for the Willy.. so I can bring that back to life...
