Also did they come with 4 steering bearings?

M-M-G, The stock plastic assembly does have alot of play. Especially after a while it will start wearing down a bit and it only gets worse. I just received this part on Friday. I have my car unassembled and I will be installing it this afternoon. Ill post pics of the install. This part comes with no instructions so Ill do my best to post as much install info as I can seeing how alot of you guys are looking into getting this part.

There is a set on ebay that DOES NOT come with the bearings. Be careful guys dont get this one. You want the kit that comes with the bearings, this makes the steering travel from left to right much smoother! Below is a link for the kit that includes the bearings.

Got the steering assembly installed last night and I took a few pics. The first 2 pic shows all that comes with the kit. I installed the ball bearings in the assembly so you might not see them but they are in there. The 3rd pic shows the new posts mounted on the chassis. There are 4 white spacers that come with the kit. Disregard these. They are not used. GPM really needs to start including some instructions here. They probably were meant to go where the ball bearings go much like the stock piece. There are a few thin shims that cover the bearings so dirt wont get in. (thanks for that one HellsGod) There is a thick silver spacer (not pictured) that goes between the upper deck and on top of the shaft. This will not allow the assembly to slide up or down on you.

I did a side by side comparison of the plastic steering assembly vs. the new GPM piece. (last pic) First of all and most obvious is way less play in the GPM assembly as opposed to the stock unit. Height wise, the GPM unit sits at the same level as the original so no problems there. The pic shows one spacer below the assembly but please disregard that. I hadnt taken them out at the time I took the pic. Overall its a direct fit with no modifications needed. Instructions would be nice but not too complicated to install. Next will be the performance test so Ill keep you updated on how much it really helps in steering stability. Hope this help you guys out a bit. PM me if you have any other questions, Ill be more than happy to help.

Hey Al do you really think you can take the Xray NT1 with a .12 turbo ninja engine just by adding a little bit of steering to your car. Bro you will need more than that if you trying to beat the NT1...

Extra cheese on yours I know, I know!

As for me being a better driver? I dont know about that. You did pretty good last time out man! Remember I didnt have the current set up on the HPI back then. It was all off and we kept having that switch malfunction causing the fail safe to go off all the time. The steering assembly was also stock and at top speed we were all over the place on the back straight. All of that to consider, you were still able to get the car aound the track pretty quick. Besides I need every possible way to ensure that I can atleast keep up with your NT1 (a.k.a. the rocket). That thing is wicked FAST. Lets keep this thread alive for the steering assembly and start an RS4 vs. NT1 thread comparing both cars at the track. I think that will be fun. The NT1 is obviously a far superior overall competitor and car but seeing how both cars are gonna be out there dukeing it out why not do a head to head comparison? I think Ill title it David vs. Goliath!
