i put it on the scales last night and she was 37 lbs and 13 oz. i still plan to order the carbon gear and i think i read it would save around 10 oz but i will be adding 6 oz of battery(going from the 2400 fromecos i had to the 5200 on the way) so 37.5 is target. this plane flys light and sweet. i put 5 flights on her last night after work and every flight is better than the last, i think she is getting used to me. haha!

i have burnt 9 gal of gas through her now and plan to burn a couple more tomorrow and the extra is holding up very well. i went through her the last couple of nights looking for any thing that may be coming loose but found nothing. time will tell but i think the wild hare extra is a keeper and seems to be put together very well. the DA 150 has also ran without so much as a hick-up. what props are you guys running on your 150's? i have been running a Xoir 32-10 an tried a Menz 32-10 the other day, i think i like the Menz a little better for 3 D .

my cg moved forward when i swaped the cans for the mufflers so i added a little lead on the tail at the field tonight and i am getting close to having it right for me.

The CG moved forward? Did you switch wing tube locations also or just swap the cans out for the muffs in? Which wing tube location are you using now? This stuff is good to know 'cause I was thinking of switching to muffs too.

How's the noise difference?

I've been using a Mej 30x12 on mine (DA-150 as well)... I've only got 4 gallons through my plane though... having another kid and been busy.

The 30x12 has INCREDIBLE vertical and is VERY quiet. I am having a hard time getting used to the lack of noise also. The only downside to the 30x12 is the downlines are a bit fast. I have a Mej 32x10 coming to see if it slows things down... I've heard it will.

I was trying to stick with wood props for 4 year now... the Mej 30x12 is my first carbon. I LOVE it... it seems to run so much smoother than wood and the balance was literally PERFECT when I got it (hub and span). I liked it so much I ordered a 28x10 for my DA-100 Panzl. $200 on 2 props in one order hurts, but I figure it's cheaper than buying 50 props to try and ending up with these in the end anyway... figured I'd start listening to people.

Cheers

P.S.- Check the aft servo mounting rail for your wing servos. All mine came loose. So have others.

"How's the noise difference? " louder for sure but it sounds good to me.

i would love to try a 30-12 mej on mine. the 32-10 does slow down nice though.

i had seen that a few servos had come loose and i did check mine, so far so good. i did have a spark plug fail today after break in and 7 gal of penns 50-1. i normally change plugs when i switch from break in to regular mix but i didn't this time. no harm done and it is running great again.

Kewl. Just fixed my wings and soldered a little brass tube onto the static pressure hole on my carb (trying to get better inverted running)... hope to fly her again tomorrow.

Nice pics!

Wow... the brass tube on the carb solved my problems. The motor is a rock star now. Lovin' it! The tube is bent 270 degrees and the open end sits just on the edge of the venturi... now the carb senses what is actually going into the carb (airwise). It now runs identical upright, knife-edge, and inverted. Sweet!

i always solder the tube into the carb and run it into a balsa box glued under the engine box and it works for me. i never turned it into the carb though.

Guys,

randy racer's Extra 300 is a real performer! Those pics were taken here at my place yesterday. The photographer missed a couple of better shots where randy was dragging the tail down the runway on a harrier. I think the sweetest maneuver he does with it is pulling vertical at the end of the runway, 1/4 roll, climbs to about 100 feet, then adds full right rudder....flips it over the top, then brings it down the runway in a high alpha knife edge at a VERY low altitude.....just very sweet and smoooooooth indeed. He was nice enough to let me wiggle the sticks for a flight on the Bunny, and it's one stable bird, yet very responsive when you move the sticks. I know I sure didn't find any bad tendencies.......Great flying Randy!!

I've done that too. This seemed to work better. I was thinking about it and the carb inlet isn't seeing the air pressure inside the fuse or the airpressure in a balsa box... it's eeing the air pressure at the venturi. I figured sensing this air pressure would provide more consistant runs. Turns out it was good!
