Well today was the day. I finally got my 100 satio tuned up and we maidened my Frenzy. I followed your advice and have the throws turned down and had an experienced pilot help me trim it out. Once that was done it is a ****cat I will increase the throws as I get more comfortable.

I need to change my throttle linkage and do a lateral balance and it will be ready to fly.

With the satio 100 I had to add 1 oz to the nose to get it to the CG to balance at 6 in.

My Satio is still running rich but I only got 6 minutes per tank. What should I expect when it is leaned out?

I am very pleased, as it is set up now it is much easier to fly than my Nextstar trainer.

Six minute flights = tank upside down or fuel line and presure line reversed. The tank was overflowing at less than 1/4 full. I will work on this today.

Cool, sounds like you had a pretty good start with the Frenzy! Glad to see you found a tank problem, 6 minutes was a bad. I know I usually fly about 10-12 minutes with the 1.25, so you should see a little better flight times than that. I'm not sure how long a tank will last yet as I've not ran it out in flight yet.

Just take it easy and turn the controls throws up more as you get used to it and you will have a blast.

Good luck and let us know how it does when you get the bugs worked out.

Found the stopper in the fuel tank was upside down so the overflow was pointed down rather than up. Changed that and the tank works fine.

I was able to knife edge on my first flight and it flew inverted with just a touch of down. All this at 3 mistakes high of course

Hope to fly again this weekend.

Has anyone used a one servo setup on the elevator? Also is a Saito 100 for power good enough to pull it out of a hover?

Flew it several times today and like it more and more. After fixing the tank I flew it for 10 min with 1/4 tank left at the end. It is still running rich as I don't know how well the Satio 100 was broken in. I will start leaning it out next time.

As for power I can't tell you whether or not it can pull out of a hover, but it does have unlimited vertical. If I could hover I would have tried that for you. I did try to hover a few times and it would pull out without losing any altitude. Pull outs were up but never vertical.

On my second flight today, I did fly it on the recommended low rates and will be setting up the throws for high rates.

This plane is easier to land than my Nextstar trainer.

darylm44,

Thanks for the feedback on the Saito 100. It sounds like the Saito is enough power and I don't need to purchase that expensive saito 125.

Also, I would like to know if you or others are only using a one servo for the elevator versus two? I have not had any luck when the plane requires two servos.

Thanks

One thing about it you can always switch engines if the 100 does not have enough power for you. I know some guys just like a lot of excess power.

I used the 2 servo set up on the elevator. I set them up on elevator and Aux 2 on my spectrum Dx7 and then mixed Aux 2 at 100% with elevator. I think it is working fine and no complaints from one of the more experienced pilots that flew it.

Will one servo setup be okay for the elevator?

I am having a hard time visualizing how you would set up the elevator with 1 servo. It looks to me like you would have to find a way to attach the 2 halves or move the elevator servo up to the servo tray and use 2 push rods attached together. My eflite cub uses the 2 push rod method. The drawback to this is you would be eliminating the weight of 2 servos near the tail and adding the weight of 1 servo near the CG. This might change the CG quite a bit. I guess I would try to connect the 2 haves and just worry about the weight of 1 servo. You might consider a metal gear set if only using 1 servo.

Just some thoughts.

What type of problems are you having using two tail servos?

My computer Futaba 6exa does not have servo reversing. So, everytime i use a servo rev Y on a elevator half, that half travels more than other during flight and bounces up & down after any elevator input.

To fix this problem I have been using a 4-40 rod bent in a slight U with sharp points on each end and epoxing the two halfs one on each end then using a high torgue servo. This does lessen the weght on the tail end, but does keep the elevator input very smooth during flight. Something like the below picture, if this helps. I then use the CA hinges for final installation.

I have only been flying for a year and thought all Tx could do servo reversing. Even the cheap radio that came with my Wing Dragon 4 would reverse servos. Guess I have a lot to learn yet.

Darylm44 they make A revericing Y that just plugs intoo the 2 servos and reverce them for you. And it has A set screw on it so you can adjust the serves too mach each other.Hope this helps Joe.

Perfect day up here in Alaska. Sunshine and calm winds, flew the Frenzy 5 or 6 times and I am liking it more and more. Flew it on recomended low rates today so I will start moving up the high rates.

The satio 100 has enough power to pull strait up out of a hover (hover didn't last long but I did hover). Had another experienced 3d flyer fly it today and he said it has plenty of power. I am turning 9300rpms with a 15x6 prop. Both of the experienced pilots have U can Do's and they both say the Frenzy flys knife edge much better than the U can Do.

I leaned it out another 3/8 of a turn and seem to be getting much better fuel consumption. Maybe I am just managing the throttle better? Flew 2 10 min flights and had a little less than 1/4 tank left so I will set my timer at 15 min and be safe if I work it harder.

Hey Everyone

Currently putting this plane together, and I need some advice from folks regarding the throttle linkage. I am running a saito 125, and for some reason, am having difficulty with the throttle linkage since it is located towards the center of the firewall. This has forced me to run a throttle tube through the area where the fuel tank will be placed. I people could help me by posting the best method for throttle linkage setup, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!
Andy K
