Good luck Ackular you will love the way this plane flys and reacts. After you get used to flying it you can kick it up on high rates and do some scarey stuff lol. Hope your maiden goes well. IF you have it balanced correctly and all it will just lift off by itself straight and true. Or mine did anyway. Glad to be some help and for sure the guys here want you to have a good plane. This one lands easy and will just kinda float in. Don't let it get just way way slow it will fall as they all do but landings are great with it.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that I just came back from the maiden of the aircraft ! Excellent flight characteristics. I just needed a couple of clicks of elevator trim, and the plane was flying hands off! The only thing I noticed is that I believe the plane is a bit nose heavy. When I went inverted, there was a tendancy for the aircraft to pitch nose down a bit. I dont know if this would also make it more difficult to hover the aircraft when wanted. I dont know if others have noticed the same thing. The Saito 125 is a powerhouse for the frenzy! Its amazing how much the plane actually shakes when I started the motor. Unfortunately, the head on my pilot decided to give way, and it's bouncing around in the canopy. I hope this wont effect anything as far as aerobatics are concerned. Have others had similar problems? Any solutions as to how I may be able to get the head out? Can I heat the canopy or something to allow the glue to come off?

Other than that, the plane is amazing! It's like a featherweight when in the air. I can tell also that this aircraft was not made to go fast. I also have a ton of residue from the muffler that got all over the aileron servos. Im going to try and reposition the muffler. Have others added any epozy/acohol mixture to make the firewall oil and waterproof?

Thanks so much!
Andy

one more thing....should I correct the balance problem by adding some lead to the tail? I currently have the batteries as far back as they will go!

Thanks,
Andy

Akular1 i'm glade your maden went well.Did you glue the canape onto the wood or thr covering? If you glued it too the corveing you can take A sharp knive and cut the corveing at the edge of the canape and pull it off. Then recover it and glue it back on.And if it is nose heavey I would sure recheck the balance point too make sure it is where you wanted it.My self i would not want the nose too fall because too me I think it would make it harder for me too land at A slow speed. That is just me! i take and epoxy all my planes in side and out too keep the oil and fuel from socking into the wood.Hope this helps and have fun with it.

Joe

You might consider screwing Canopy next time then you can remove it when needed.

I have read almost all the pages of this thread just to know if I can bolt a Saito 1.00 in this airframe and still have the chance to perform some 3D maneuvers as well as hovering. I have noted that some people that are using the Saito 1.25 say that it is "more than enough power" but I have not seen anybody posting tghat it hovers fine with a Saito 1.00.
What do you guys think about it?

Thanks.

Alfred.

Alfred,

My frenzy , with all the hardware ways in at 7 1/2 pounds. A 1.00 will hover that weight but the pull out will be slow.

I think a 100 would do it. The 125 has power to spare so a 100 would work but as Andy said may not have the best pull out. Real close to the weight on mine also. I think unless someone does something radical they all will weigh from 7-9lbs. Man they just fly so good though you could not even bother to try to hover this plane and fly it as a pattern type and have it for a long long time. I get over confident or stupid and dumb thumbed one. But man I was actually hovering about 5ft. off the ground and tried getting closer. Then tried to make sure I had all the pieces

Kid,

I picked up one of those regulators they were talking about in club Saito. I got the Iron Bay regulator for two reasons, 1) It was metal vs plastic 2) It was cheaper . They send you a check valve for your exhaust so the tank will hold pressure , the regulator , and instructions. I'm using mine on my Moki , if it works well and I have troubles with my 1.25 I'll get one for that.

Andy

I was having all kinds of trouble with my Frenzy/125 set up (surging) and found a Klein regulator on Ebay and that is making a world of difference. I just need to do a little more tuning with it but it ran so poorly before that I had to get something. Another one of the guys at the field is having the same problems with his and is going to get a Perry pump for his.

I have a Perry Pump. It was given to me to use as a Smoker. But man the Frenzy just does not have room for a smoke tank. I think the actual pump though by looking at the Perry site is made for fuel and not smoke. Not sure it was ever even used before. It is the blue one. I have been thinking of trying it. Man before the plane flooded when I would fill it but stopped filling all the way as you can see the tank with the hatch off. This helped some and it ran great. I made some minor changes to the plane nothing motor related and it now will siphon the tank if not careful. It was cool looking though to have it screaming about 45mph and a trail of smoke from the exhaust. Looked like a mini smoker lol.

I hooked up that regulator and its pretty cool. It keeps the line full , but the engine only takes what it needs. They recommend one inch of hose between the regulator and carb.

Is this plane harrier capable? It seems to have the same wing as UCD 60. And the UCD is a big harrier problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes this plane will harrier. I have harrier landed mine twice. First time was an accident as i just got to low while doing it and had to land it that way. Then i did it and actually meant to. This IS A Great plane. For us with holes in our heads anyway lol. It will do any 3D manuever in the right hands that is lol.
Me i have had a hole in my head since birth i suppose, But this plane is supposed to be much better flying than the UCD but i have never flown a UCD. Grandad that has responded has so he would know more about it.
