At last my WSN T34 has arrived from Modelocity (Ebay), it took a couple of weeks which isn't too bad I guess. The Tank cost me £49 including delivery from the US to UK. Good price I think.

I plan to gut the electronics and install the full HL S&S upgrade, not sure about the gearbox, will probably leave that. I also want to install the metal tracks and the metal barrel. Problem is my wife is insisting that I can't have the tank until Christmas!! She says I spend too much on these 'toys' as it is! I'll need to work on her a bit.

Anyway in the meantime she gave me permission to check it was all present and correct - which it was, the packaging was excellent.

First impressions are that the model tank itself is a few leagues ahead of the HL tanks. It comes with loads of details to add on as well as some basic weathering already done.
See the pics below, I've also taken a pic next to my HL Tiger - I forget how big the tiger was as until now I haven't had any other 1/16 scale models to compare it to.

I may not return to this thread for a while..... but here's hoping my wife will relent!

Ohhh fv432 ... you're bad.
Just wish I had thought of that. LOL
Now I know what to do when I want to get something done. Just become a pain under foot.

go ahead and work on her....when the soldering iron gets too hot and the screwdriver, WD-40 and superglue gets uncomfortable, you're back in the motor pool. Or buy her a Pershing and paint it pink with flowers in place of white stars and her name on the turret.

Funny you should say that, I sort of chose the WSn because she expressed a glimmer of interest..so I thought I would try and take advantage....we'll see how it goes over the next few weeks...

Better start working on her soon, and hard, Mato has those metal tracks on sale for about 35.00 USD almost 50% off, gears also about 10.00 off

Hi 50kaliber,

I have the mato metal tracks and I have to say that they are ridiculously tight...I dont think they allowed for shrinkage in the mould.....might discard mine soon as they are too tight....

Cheers

Hmm, if you do, maybe I could bung you a few quid and try them myself, perhaps they just need some filing...

Hey 50K, did you start your T-34 up yet? The gun elevation and turret traverse are ridiculously loud, it is a great looking kit but the electronics and motor controls are cheap. My T-34 is at the stage of receiving HL electronics, turret traverse and 7.2V battery, I may do the motors too if this doesn't work out.

Embarrassed as I am... the wife said that since I was gonna rip out the stock electronics and like you replace with HL gear there was no need to fire it up...! She had it stowed in the loft before I could even have one last fond look at its glorious appearance!

In her defence I have just had the most expensive 40th birthday present ever.... a baby boy and she has taken a year off work so thats her salary gone for 9 months and I've got a big mortgage to cover Yeh I know I can hear you crying from here!

Maybe we could set up a fund and you guys could all chip in....
