Hi, I'm pretty new to all this and have been suggested to look for a compact point and shoot digital video camera. I've been looking around, but if anyone could give me any advice/recomendations to help it would be greatly apprecieated :-)

Do you mean a point and shoot digital cammera??? If you mean that I would do a simple search of EBAY and see what you can come up with. With a simple hack (remove the LCD and all weight producing stuff) and make a nice stripped down digital cammera for aerial shots. For video I would do the same (search EBAY) and see what you can come up with. I know that there are 2 types of digital video recorders, memory chip and tape recorders. With the memory recorders you use a memory chip to store the video instead of a larger tape. they all have there ups and downs. Mini T

I you are after a dedicated video camera then I’m afraid I can’t help, but if you can live with using a camera to take the video then I might suggest something along the lines of a Fuji finepix. I recently bought one for just that task and I am pretty happy with the video result overall, and I have also taken some pretty good ariel pictures with it too.
Let me know if this sounds like the sort of thing you’re after and I’ll give you more info on it. Rough spec of mine…..
8.3 megapixel
Video is 640x480 at 30 frames sec, with mono sound
Weight is around 5.5 oz
The bracket I made up to fit it to my Raptor 50 weighs around 15oz
