Here is my first attempt. It does work very fine with Oralight and equivalent of Windex we have in France.
Thanks.

Overtheedge,

I love those old 60 sized pattern planes, I am doing a Bridi Escape and a Dirty Birdi now. Your XLT looks great, you might want to trim out the canopy in white though, break up all that red on top. LOL

That looks really good, its essentially the same method we use when tinting car windows.

I heard the same thing. He had some personal issues that manifested into real problems. Good luck to him wherever he is and into these days. Wasnt much of a flyer but he could sure cover an airplane!

Here is my flag attempt on the bottom of my Avistar. I used windex to place the colored monokote on the white covering that came with the plane and then used the iron to tack the edges followed by the heat gun to tighten it up. I only did half because I didn't want to mess up the pretty stripes hobbico already had on it

Came out clean with no bubbles and took less than 2 hours total time.

Thanks for the great techniques - It worked perfectly!!

Acetone won't attack the film of ultracote/oracover but it will sure take the color off the back side! The color in ultracote is in the glue it appears, rather than the color of the film itself.

The trim solvent you all are talking about smells like MEK solvent. I'm going to get a quart of it next time I'm at the hardware store and try it. The little bottles they sell at the LHS are awfully high priced!
