Now these are neat tricks!

Anyone ever tried these techinques on the bigger planes? I'm wondering how well the static cling monokote would stick at higher windspeeds.

GATOR Do you think that Baron film with Windex would work on a QHOR? art43

ART, not sure about the QHOR idea....it would probably work just as well useing low heat, Black Baron is a low heat covering....G

Has anyone tried this method of covering using transparent solarfilm on top of white solarfilm. Tried a few tests and I find that the transparent film just doesn't look right (ie bubbles etc). Is it best to use a drop of dish washing liquid/water and squeege the air out before applying heat ???

Assistance appreciated

Michael, cant speak for solarfilm, but with the windex method no heat is necessary.....I tried some Black Baron film a few days ago, and that stuff laid down real nice ontop of monokote.

Heres the final
after I use heat around all hard edges I come back over the open wing areas with some monokote trim solvent applied with a Q-Tip. this seals down all edges that dont have heat
[/QUOTE]

So you don't apply heat to the transparent blue/red on the top surface at all then ??

Using Solarfilm on Solarfilm atm. The silver on the white base worked a treat with heat. Would it be possible to if no heat is applied to the red/blue to use the likes of diluted clearcoat over the entire surface ??

Yeah.....NO HEAT out in the center of the blue...but I did use heat around the edges...The BUDWIESER on the Knife was done "free- hand on some banner paper, the banner paper was cut to the size of the wing of the knife. each letter was cut out of the banner paper and then traced around ontop of monokote. The white letters are put down with windex ...NO HEAT..., then I took these same letters and turned then over where they are backwards and trace on the back of some black ultracote just the parts where you want the shadow to be, so the black shadow is just small pieces of black covering. the black was applied with heat.....G

Art
Thanks alot, I think I got blessed with some artistic ability, but alot of my coverjobs are just from looking around and seeing ideas, like one time. I was useing the bathroom, and I looked in the trashcan, and there was a box of Irish Spring soap in the trash, and BAM, theres an idea.....The applying of the monokote comes with a lot of repitition
