Took me over an hour to read this thread! It was very inspirational though.

This'll give me an excuse to go buy another plane!

I did something similar, but my skill level is about one notch down. Thanks for the tips, now I can move up to the next level.

Here ya go Gator I gave it a try.....

I think it would have been quicker to airbrush....but ohwell I didn't spend too much time on it. I want to get the sledge in the air...hehe

I need to find a way to just paint everything....I wonder if I ultracoted the plane then paint then clear if it would hold up for any period of time....May have to try it on my omp.

what do you think....dude...

later,
Ken or Kenny as Auger puts it......

Hi Gator,

How's this for from one Gator to another? Did you go to UF? I liked your concept so much that I decided to try it on a Sportster that I'm finishing up. But this one is a tribute to the great nation of Texas where this plane was born before we moved to the Northwest. In the photo, the red, blue, and the gray edges are just dry fit and not tacked down. One question...

Do you have any tips on dealing with the aileron gaps? Do you just cut down the centerline and iron down the edges, or do you have a cleaner method?

Thanks for all the tips! You rock!

Hey SMU
your sporster looks GREAT!
I didn't go to UF, but I'm from Gainesville so I was born a GATOR....more people know me as GATOR than my real name
On your ailerons, I would just cut them down the center like you mention and iron them down to the TE of the wing and the LE ofr the aileron..
good luck with it...GO GATORS......G

Thanks for the tips! I still have some work to do, but I'm pretty happy with the way the wing turned out. I may go back and trim out the aileron gaps a litlle better, but I like the rest. Go Gators!

Do we really want to turn this into a political argument? This is a thread that teaches us how to make a 3d flag , it just happens that Termigator used an American flag . I am sure it would work just as well for the Union Jack.

I'm relitivaly new to r/c planes but have covered a trainer I had. I am currently building a SE and am thinking about doing this scheme to my plane. My only concern is that I have never used this windex method. Does the windex activate the glue on the back?

No... the windex doesn't activate the glue... but serves as a mild adhesive itself given the soapy content... That soap in the windex just kinda grabs the covering and doesn't let it up.... You still need to hit the edges with trim solvent though.... Otherwise the glow fuel will eventually eat its way under the trim...

Not a wise thing to go slagging off a countrys flag , but maybe some people are getting bored of seeing the stars and stripes everywhere on everything at everychance.
I think he was just one of those that has been pushed to far and snapped.
I thought there was a UK flag in this thread actually.
For me i want the Cornish flag , black with a white cross, but it's not done the same way as this flag with clear films, and i've not had a plane to try anything out on yet, maybe one day...
This is the best i have, my Outlaw has both flag s as i was given the plans by a friend in Florida.

why ever this topic was revived from a month ago i dunno, but nice plane anyway.

the pokemon on the tip is a nice touch

for hte cornish flag , try 2 layers of purple or dark blue transparent. it should look black if you dont try to c the purple too hard.

quote:

why bother?? stoopid american flag !

i mean, seriously, do you no how usless that was? you revided a topic a full month old that you probably had to go to page 6 to even find in the first place just to piss people off. i dont get the point. please explain it to me. im sure i, as wel las every one else you have offended would be very interested to know what the point was.

oh and to fix the problem with to many stripes, ill post my 3D Greek flag tomorrow. (also has stripes, but there blue )

btw in the poem you linked to, the line about "i flew over the battle of shilo ect", ecactly what other flag would have since it was the civil war? (note the confederate flag was a battle flag not a country flag )
