Then came the McGuire AFB Open House.
And Grandpa's display.
For the first time...........I went with the family (everyone.........even grandma) and attended the show.................
And fullfilled my promise of having an F-16 for Grandpa's Tuskegee Airmen display.............and an F-15 and F-18 to back the 16 up...............(it was the least I could do.)

Now it usually takes me 8 to 10 months to build something thus the F-16 is far from finished. I've only been working on the jet for 4 months.
But practically round the clock................and yes...........I did lose approximately 14 pounds in the last three weeks because I have'nt been sleeping much.
Having to get the jets ready for Grandpas display helped but there is still much more work to do...............seam lines, armament (which was literally drying as I drove to Kentucky), canopy........(still waiting on my air cylinder) etc........etc.........etc.
Usually I am not much into thanking individuals because of obvious reasons............but this time I must mention a few names, mainly because these people went out of their way to make sure that I had what I needed...........some working literally overnight to get me things I had to have either for the display or KY jets...............in no particular order but all of great significance.....................
Tam Nyguen(Tam Jets)............for putting a rush on developing a large F-16, although only a prototype, I used what I could from it and made it work. And getting me the updated nose gear for the F-18 and overnighting the strut to Louis's house in time for KY jets.
Anton Lin(Skymaster Jets).............for getting me the cockpit and ultimately the jet as soon as you could.
Eric Clapp(Jet Central Turbines/Skymaster Jets)...........for ordering the jet from Anton ASAP.
John Mesola(Matrix Machine Group).............For building the landing gear and wheels to the specifications that I needed in order to have the jet as scale as possible.
Cindy (Aeroloft).................for working constantly to keep up with my instant requests of graphics that I needed.
Andy Low (Electrodynamics).................for making ideas in my head into reality and developing the afterburner ring to the specifications I requested along with your ideas for a realistic light display.
Bob Wilcox (JetCat USA) for putting a rush on upgrading my two Titans to SE specs.
BVM Jets and Dreamworks RC.................for always having what I need in stock and sending it out ASAP.
Michael Bacon (Luminant Designs)............for making the chocks on a tight schedule.
Now I know there may be someone I forgot, and I'll comeback on here when I can and add to this list.............but all of the above for the most part............were crucial in making sure I met deadlines to have all of this done in time.
THANK YOU!
Bryce

Now comes Kentucky Jets.......................
We've all seen the pictures and it was for sure a great time and a very nice facility............big thanks to all those who helped to bring this all together, town commitees, FAA, Sponsors...........etc. We all did our best to make this a safe, friendly event, so that everyone.............spectators, and participants could get the most enjoyment out of being there.
Thank You.
As I mentioned at the banquet, this event was only about family and friends for me and that's it. I have'nt flown much since Superman, so I was just glad to be able to fly my planes around to try and keep some kind of proficiency. Speaking of which...............I'll say a short bit here with a sequence of pictures to put this all into perspective.
On Saturday I had Grandpa come out to the flightline with me while I flew the Superhornet around.

Then comes the landing..............................
Now being a bit "rusty" I did what I would call a respectable landing..................however........Grandpa did'nt see it that way.
After I landed and was taxing back, "Sam" (Thankyou for all of the pictures!) said..........."could you guys shake hands for a picture?"................well Grandpa says "That landing was ok............but it was'nt on the centerline, so this aint gonna be no happy moment! "
He's brutal folks..........brutal..........notice..........I'm not smiling too much either.

Sooooo......................
I was'nt gonna let that slide....................90 degrees or not(and I don't care if your age is almost the same as the temperature in Farenheit)..................WERE GOIN RIGHT BACK UP!
This time Red Tail gets the flight................and once again...........Grandpa comes back out talkin smack.................."Don't screw this one up too.............I'm lookin for centerline here."...........................whatever man .
So here we go....................flashing around with the Red Tail.

Then comes the landing..............................
While on downwind I said to him..................."alright, which wheel do you want on the centerline? Right or Left? You call it..............." And he says................."well I'm standing on your right side, so give me the right one."
"No problem" (slight right crosswind helped, but don't tell him that! "
Now as I turn final, he says............."I'm gonna get a picture of this for your buddy down there in Florida who did'nt show up, so you can show him what time it is."
Well................Grandpa never got that picture as you can see...............he was too busy saying .............."Well I'll be..........."
BUT SAM CAUGHT IT!
Thank you Sammy for catching that shot so J now knows what time it is!

Continuing on...............................
A few weeks after I had returned from Arizona and the departure of the Last Red Tail............ I went over to Grandpa's house and usually he has an obituary from someone he knew or their wife who has passed on.
Well this time he has a disappointed look on his face and he says, you're not gonna want to read this, but I picked this up out at the base for you.
And he gives me this magazine (Combat Aircraft) and says................"Turn to page 61."

There was also another publication that Grandpa gave me which has just come out about the Tuskegee Airmen and is an excellent and up to date reference for those seeking more information or paint schemes.
It is called "332 Fighter Group - Tuskegee Airmen" By Chris Bucholtz, published by Osprey.
